Just passed Micro

Just passed Micro...Got a "B" it was my last prereq. I was surprised, this was the 1st computer based excelsior test I have taken...I took quite few of the old Regents exams in my USAF days. I used the MyStudy group 101 guide & listened to the lectures on itunes, as well as micro on iuniversity...I felt like I was super prepared & very little of the info I studied was on the exam, however the vocabulary I got from the study guide was key to answering the questions...So my question is, without violating anything...Are the rest of the exams more like the excelsior pretests/content guides or the materials covered in the My study group 101....I feel like I could have made a better study guide myself by using the Excelsior content guide.

I always come down on the side of the EC materials. I never relied only on SG101 or other notes to prepare, but used them to supplement. Congrats on the B! :)

The practice exams & content guides from EC are always the best choice. The rest are supplemental.

Thanks for the feedback guys

Congratulations! Also, glad to hear that using SG101 and audio recordings are the supplemental sources. Honestly, majority of my "study group 101" notes were self-made notes. I find to guide useful, it just covers too much information outside of what the Excelsior syllabus focuses on. That's just my opinion. Again, congratulations on your pass :)

I passed Micro today with a "B" also I was very surprised I felt like I didn't know any of it. I worked backwards I have finished everything else and just needed to pick up Micro and College Writing. One more test and I'm finished.

I'm wondering how you did that? they are making me take the classes in order, micro, then transitions, then phase 1....then phase 2. Maybe GI BILL thing? i have to have pre approval to test...since they pay for it.

The phases just began this January. I enrolled last year and was required to take micro and a&p before any nursing exams as well. Sometime prior they didn't require that micro and such be completed before hand. Everyone now also has to have pre-approval for an exam. I call in and let them know which test I want to take next, they approve it and within minutes I pay for it.

Really? That might be a new thing, but I usually recommend taking them in order anyway. I think part of this is to help determine who gets priority for any of the online courses, if you ever decide to do any of those vs. the test-out exams. People who are further along get priority from what I've heard, and I guess this is the best way to determine seniority. Just a guess!

Glad you're getting it paid for, though. Thank you for your service. :) EC is great to the military folks - my graduate degree only costs $250/credit hour because I'm active duty. Nice!
