You should find a time of day when you can study without being interrupted, maybe get up one or two hours before the rest of the family. Schedule enough time to cover everything thoroughly before the next test. Study as if you had never tested before because you don't want to gloss over or skip anything. Get Saunders Comprehensive Review if you don't already have it. Do as many questions, from as many sources as you can find. Study the rationales. If you can afford it, maybe take a live or online review. Go to your school and ask for help. Schools are usually good about assisting their students to pass NCLEX. Just keep at this and don't give up.

In addition to cali's suggestions...

1. Find someone to watch the kids for two hours several times a week. Go somewhere ELSE, like a library, and study undisturbed. My wife had to do that for nearly four years of school, and it saved her. I think there is a cubicle in the Health Sciences Library named for her. :D

2. Try and find a study partner. Once or twice a week study together, on other days from your 'library day'.

I know it is tough, but it is only until you get past the NCLEX. If you got through school, you can pass the NCLEX. Hang in there.

Did you do adequately well in your other schooling? Is it possible you have ADHD? Its worth ruling out, at least. There are some screening tools on-line, at various psych. sites (not sure I can mention them here?) Try PsychCentral...

Have you tried Suzanne's plan? Just google on here for information about her study plan. Many people have used it and and say that it works.

Wow, have you done the HURST review? that is what I suggest. I just took the NCLEX in January. How many times can you take that test? Do some states limit that? By the way, nursing school didn't prepare me for anything other than that darn NCLEX> It has helped me very little in the real world of nursing.

Moved to the NCLEX forum

Some really good hints/tips and support on this forum you may want to sit down and have a good read. Do not rush to re sit the exam. Make sure you have prepared fully

Each state is different on how many times someone can sit the exam

thank you all for the support and advise...and i will hang in there and keep moving forward...thanks again and i will keep u guys posted after i pass the nlcex =)

Just remember that you got through school. I think that sometimes the pressure of passing can become our worst enemy. You have made it this far, just one more step to go. Study for sure but remember that most of what we need to pass NCLEX is what was being crammed into our heads for years and it was called school!! I think there is such a thing as over doing it when it comes to preparing for NCLEX! Find 1 or 2 really good NCLEX review books (Kaplan worked well for me) if you haven't already and slowly but steadily go over sections of the review. Don't know if it was the smartest thing but what I did was take the tests in the back of the books first to help identify my weakest points and those were the ONLY areas that I focused on simply using my text books and notes from school. Remember not to cram because none of that will stick anyway. Just breathe and KNOW that you can do it, and you will!!! :nuke:

thank u!!! i appreciate the advise and support...god bless!

I have taken the nclex 5 times also. I will be taking it again very soon. Dont give up! I am using Saunders 4th edition . I am reviewing each chapter and taking the test at the end. If i make less then 75% on the quiz, i read the chapter agian and retake the quix and move on. After i complete all the chapters i used the cd and did 100 questions a day for 45 days. Good Luck!
