I am planning to apply for a job in TX and I have a CA License. In the application one of the requirements is to have a "Current RN license in Texas"... Can I still apply to this position with my CA RN license or is it only for TX RNs?

Thanks!

You can apply but you need a Texas license to practice. So you'll need to list your Calif license to demonstrate that you ARE a legally licensed RN. Somewhere in your documents your can state that you have initiated the application process for TX licensure. (assuming that you HAVE done so already).

Don't know if TX is a compact state, but delaying your application only holds you back on opportunities.

texas is a compact stare, but california is not.....you will have to apply texas bon for reciprosity, still aply for the job, but you will need the texas lis to practice:sniff:

In many cases you will not be taken seriously by hiring managers / recruiters if you apply for jobs at Texas facilities without actually possessing a Texas nursing license.

If the advertisement says "current TX RN license" they probably won't look at any applications that do not meet this requirement.
