Job interview

I did a job interview with the DON and someone further up the chain of command and was basically told hey your a really strong candidate and welcome to the team. The next day I get a text from the DON telling the administrator wants to interview me and will call in the next 30-60 minutes.  It then takes them an hour and a half to call me. Is this normal?

Well, it sure beats being told to be available for a phone interview at such and such time and date, only to never hear from them again.  Yes, this happened to me.

OP - that wasn't really so-so bad considering that all the things that could have interrupted the Admin before your interview call.

NOTE - PP caliotter's post.

So what was the outcome?

It must not have been a job you really wanted, and maybe this experience helped you figure that out. I definitely wouldn’t have seen this as a red flag.

I hope you withdrew your application for some other reason than this? The DON could have many reasons for not being able to call back within 30-60 minutes. There could have been an emergency with a patient on the floor that she had to be present for, like a code. Or possibly a family came in with a serious issue to discuss. The fact that she did call back the same day, half an hour later than you were told tells me that something important must have come up, and they were truly interested in you. I hope that you don't hold all employers to this standard, or you will be disappointed often. Best of luck on your job search, and try to be more patient.

beachynurse - I hope that OP takes your post to heart.

Made me think that even a false alarm fire drill could have set the DON lto be late.

Small potatoes, to me.

I did withdraw for other reasons. I would have to be worried that anything I said would be considered bullying. I have been a nurse for quite a few years. I do not sugar coat things but I am not mean about it.
