ITT Tech?

Hey Steener, is the Hesi timed and is calculators allowed?

Avasmommy, its all inclusive! But, like I said, theres positives and negatives to that.

so what your saying is it would make more sence to take all of the basics at a CC, and then transfer to ITT program? that way I would also be saving some money as well?

Honestly, its your preference. I have spent the past 3 years building up classes to try and get in somewhere, but its SO competetive and I don't feel any closer than the day I started. I can't say whether I would have gone through all that trouble again, had I known about ITT tech sooner. But then again, I needed the refund I got each semester to help sustain because were a one income family with a small child so thats something to think about too (what are your needs?) At the end of this semester I will be able to work as an EMT so I can make enough to justify going back to work and paying for extra days that my daughter would be in daycare, but if it weren't for fin-aid refunds I wouldnt have been able to go this long. My point is, if you want to go that route you have a guarantee that your classes will transfer if you plan on getting your BSN, but if you dont forsee you going past ADN then by all means skip it and go straight in!!

The HESI is timed, and there is a calculator built in to the computer test. Because my CC courses were 3 credit hours and ITT wants 4 credit hours for a transfer, I'm having to test out of classes. No fee, and if you don't pass, you just take the class. I'm testing out of Math, Composition I, and Psychology.

that is a good point! I have a 9 month old daughter! well I appreciate you taking the time to help me out with these questions! I think I am going to call them and set up an appt. to meet them and see what they have to say. so you are currently attending ITT? how much longer will you have to go now? and I was also wondering about the Hesi as well.. do you take that before you begin the actual nursing classes, or is that taken after the classes? and also, if I was to take my basics at the CC, would I just go straight into the ITT nursing program, or would I still have to take there basics, being that they are inclusive?

What?! That doesn't make sense quarter credit hour system classes transfer to traditional colleges on a .67 basis meaning a 4 credit hour class at ITT would only transfer to a traditional college as 2.68 credit hours, so why are they making you test out when you have more than enough!!

Im not in the program but Steener is, I am about to apply. The HESI is the only entrance requirements. You can find the official test guide, its by evolve "Admission assessment exam review" From what I understand most ITT tech programs require you to take all the portions except the physics, but i think they go over that in the seminar.

You have to take the HESI as an entrance exam. They have a study guide that you can buy from them, and it's well worth the $25. As long as you have enough credits to transfer, you won't have to take the classes at ITT. It will save you money to do it that way, but it won't save you any time. Your program would still be the same length as each quarter you have a mix of general education classes and nursing classes. You can have your credits evaluated by them and they will tell you what will transfer.

Honestly, because they said they needed 4 credits, I didn't even bother trying to transfer. If I can't test out (which I am sure I'll be fine with on Math and Composition at least) then I'll tackle that :) Either way, it's nice to have a refresher and since financial aid is covering a great deal of my tuition, it's not so bad. For our test outs, we need a 70% to pass.
