How much are the quizzes worth?

My first A&P teacher did this - I dropped the class the second week. It takes more than one exposure to a new concept for me to be able to recall it. It wasn't a good teacher/student fit.

My second A&P I and II teacher only ever gave us spelling quizzes and we knew in advance when they'd be. I did very well in her classes.

They are usually about 20 questions, worth 15 points. So although they're not worth much, if I do bad on all of them, it definitely effects my overall grade. I wish I would've dropped in the beginning but I feel like I've already gone halfway through, I want to just push forward. Last day to drop is November 9th I think and if my grades still haven't changed by then, I might have to.

Yeah, it is kind of late. I didn't even get a W on my transcript because I dropped so early.

I don't think a B and a C are bad grades though, and there's enough time to bring them back up. And for what it's worth, the skeletal system was a challenge for me.

Yeah I don't really like the way that W is going to look on my transcript, even if it doesn't affect my GPA! I'm gonna try to tough it out and see what happens! Thanks :)

The only advice I can give is to look at the syllabus and try to read prior to going into class. That way when the teacher goes over the powerpoint, it will all be reinforcement for you.

Is it possible to do the necessary reading the day before class so that when you see the power point it's not your first exposure to the subject?

My AP teacher does the same, but we are expected to know the material before class. When we meet, he reviews the material, answers questions, and we take the quiz. There is no way I would pass the quiz if I didn't do all the work on my own ahead of the class. There's also no way he could cover everything in the chapter in that amount of time. Is it possible your teacher follows the flipped classroom format?

I second what other PPs have suggested about front loading for class by doing the reading prior. Do you have access to the slides prior to class as well? That could help prepare you.

Front-loading saved me when taking the big sciences - that way when I went to the lecture I was able to really soak everything up and reinforce what I had already learned.

As others have said; try reading ahead of time. Make your own labeling exercises if you can and go crazy, have fun with them!

I've had this issue before! I don't recommend dropping the class because you paid and you aren't failing. I recommend going over the material prior to class. Are the powerpoints online? You can go off of the syllabus and try to teach yourself so that you're a little more prepared. As for the W on your transcript, it won't really effect how schools look at you. This is based off persinal experience. If you retake the class, do well. If it really does concern them, they will ask you why you dropped it. Usually no one asks about it unless you get a failing grade then they'll probably start asking questions.
