Hello I need advice. All through high school I was always into the health care field and knew I wanted to be a nurse. I started out at a community college, I did my best to find a school with no entrance test. I found one. Well I applied and I got accepted. For the longest time It didn't feel real. Starting the first day while I drove on the thruway, I told myself Amanda you can do this you worked so hard. Trying to keep positive thought at all times. I ended up signing up for 7 classes, BIG mistake. I started to feel overwhelmed, then I couldn't work many hours. I ended up fall behind on my bills. One day I decided to drop out with out thinking or talking to someone. Everyone was upset with me. Now that I am trying to go back in the fall. I am wondering if this is really for me? I felt that my motivation for nursing has fell of the face of the earth. Anyone have any positive suggestions?

First off, if you think that your the only person that has ever over extended them self you are dead wrong. You bit off more than you could chew and you obviously realized it. I am going to assume that you are talking about your nursing pre-reqs, and when it comes to those classes it is so important that you get good grades and also really learn the material ( its your foundation for whats to come). You need to get back into school! I have a rule for my classes, I take one major science with two easier classes (i.e Biology, Psych, and Nutrition). This way I can focus most of my attention on my science while still pulling A's in my blow off's. Your not a failure, everyone learns differently, and as far as your family goes less is more when it comes to the information you make them privy to.

7 classes would overwhelm almost everybody! I'm surprised they allowed you to sign up for that many. Do you know if you'll be re-admitted? Did you follow the procedures for withdrawing or did you just not show up anymore? That will make a difference. I would start slow with just a couple of classes so you can see how you handle school and work. Have you thought about trying a CNA course first to 'test the waters' to see if your interest in nursing is still there?

7 classes is a lot for anyone. and i can't speak for anyone else, but i have had doubts about whether being an RN is for me or not. and the only thing i can tell you is this..
if you really, truly, deep down want to be a nurse, you CAN do it! and no one can stop you. All you can do is try and if it's not for you, well at least you tested the waters. Nursing is not for everyone, but don't give up if it's what you really want:)
I am waiting for an answer if they will allow me back. I used a leave of absence. They stuck me with a large bill to pay before I can attend back but I am working with someone to help me find a way to pay for it, so that I can attend. I was taking the CNA class in high school. I work in a hospital and I am trying to move up so I can work as a nurse assistant. I think it would help motivate me to work in a atmosphere such as a nursing assistant.

Seven classes is INSANE! I've never taken more than 14 hours a semester and I never would. 14 hours was plenty! It'll seem much more manageable and you'll be more motivated when it's something you're capable of handling.

wow 7 classes is alot to handle. If they do accept you, now you know you cannot handle that courseload. If you still want to work and go to school I would suggest taking 2-3 classes a semester and see how you do. I am currently working fulltime (9-5) and I will be taking two courses in the fall Biology and Chemistry. Once I complete those all I have left is A&P I & II. If I get accepted into nursing school I may only work part time because I know it takes up a lot of time and effort to succeed. Best of luck to you and I hope they allow you back in.
