Is there a difference between RUE and Excelsior

Published

I received a brochure in the mail today stating "RUE can help you earn a nursing degree from Excelsior College". Can someone please explain if this is two different programs or what? Thanks

I believe RUE is a publishing company. Excelsior is the actual college.

Specializes in LTC, Hospice, Case Management.

Exactly right! RUE sells study guides to help you pass the examinations given by Excelsior college. They sell these for thousands of dollars. Excelsior college supplies you with a free study guide for each of their examinations. The actual college diploma has Excelsior's name on it ... NOT RUE! I have read that Yahoo has study groups on the internet to help w/ the exams. You can also often find used RUE (or other publishing companies) study guides for resale on ebay. Suckers like me (I paid big bucks for Chancellors guides and wished I hadn't) try to re-coup some of our wasted money on ebay. Good luck.

There is a big difference between RUE and Excelsior. Excelsior is a school, RUE is a publishing company that makes money off Excelsior's name. RUE nor any pusblishing company is affiliated with Excelsior in any way and Excelsior will even warn you about using their services.

I purchased one study guide from a publishing company to see if it really offered me such an advantage as the publishing comany claimed. Heck no, the study guide was a waste of my time. The Excelsior study guide is all you will need, and you will get these free as an enrolled Excelsior College student.

Greetings!! Don't fall into that trap!! Also beware of The College Network. This is yet another publishing company that claims to prepare you for Excelsior but is not in any way connected with the school. I too got suckered into that cycle. Ebay is all you need IF you don't feel the excelsior content guide helped you any. I have taken all but 4 exams thru excelsior,,,soon to have those out the way as well,,, and have made A's!!! Hope this helps!!!l

so it seems that everyone is recommending that you go through the EC program? are you having good luck with that program??

RUE isn't the same as Excelsior, only a publishing company and study guide supplier. I do feel like they do a good job, though. I can't compare since I used RUE throughout, but I did very well with RUE's help.
