Is this course load doable?

I plan on taking College Algebra, Nutrition, Writing 2, and Biology w/lab for the winter term. The courses, not including lab will be meeting twice a week and almost two hours long each. The time in between each class is 10 minutes. The first class (Math) is at 8 am. The last class (Biology) ends at 4 pm. I live about 40 minutes away from my university and work part time, about 15-20 hours a week. Should I just take Biology next term? I have to take A&P spring term and am not sure about pairing it with Biology and maybe Psychology, or Writing for sciences. HELP :( This last Fall term I took Chemistry, Pre College Algebra, and Writing 1. I got a C in both Chemistry and Math, while an A in Writing.

*Edit. I need to take Biology before the end of Spring term to be able to apply to a nursing program partnered with my university.

Are online classes an option for you? The only way I was able to get my generals and pre-reqs done while working/watching my kids was to take online courses. The only classes I've physically taken at the school were A&P I&II, and my nursing classes. Your courses would certainly be "doable" for me, but I would be taking them online. Learning through lecture is not my forte, so it will also depend on how you learn. In the end you have to assess how you learn best, wether or not these are somewhat "easy" courses for you (The C's in Math and Chem are not helping your GPA), and what you are able to handle with school/work/personal life. Good luck!

Hi, how long is your winter term? To me it looks like way too much work! I am pretty sure in Writing you will have to write a ton of papers, while in math - do a lot of crazy problems. I would not be worried about nutrition, though. But like PP stated, you should know how you learn best. Have a talk with yourself and figure out what is best for you. Are you OK doing poorly and getting Cs, or are you only shooting for As? If you are only shooting for As, I would suggest taking 2-3 courses at maximum, or not working so you can dedicate enough time per each subject.

Since it seems as though you struggled with both science and math, I wouldn't recommend that schedule. I also agree that taking maybe Nutrition and Writing online would help, too. I'd put off applying for the nursing school program by a semester.

Good luck!

That seems like a pretty normal schedule to me, but as others have stated your grades in the last semester might be reason take an easier schedule. Only you know your limits and what you are capable of.

Don't do it.

When you have a multiple test and/or major projects due on the same day, you will be in tears. This would not be setting yourself up for success. It is not only important to get this course done but to get the done correctly. No point in rushing to finish if it is going to tank your GPA come admission time. You may do better in Bio and math than Chem and math but stacking classes those classes together will be a nightmare.

That is a pretty standard class load. That said, since you struggled last time taking a science and math at the same time, I would say to drop the math. You did well in writing, and nutrition is a super easy course, which will give you more time to focus on biology, while still getting it done ASAP. Then do the math in spring.
