  1. Yes. I was supposed to observe/interview a nurse today, but she was sick. Comment
  2. Hi, hope you are having a great day/night! I want to know more about the nursing community. If you could help answer some of my questions that would be great. Where do you work? Hospital, Retirement home, Travel? Why did you choose to become a nurse? What is your routine as a nurse? What traits do you believe are essential to becoming a nurse? What do you think are pros and cons to being a nurse? What do you not like about being a nurse? Advice for pre nursing students like myself? If you work/have worked at a retirement home... What is your routine as a nurse there? How does it differ from other environments you've worked? Thank you so much for taking your time to read/answer my questions. Sorry for typos.
  3. I plan on taking College Algebra, Nutrition, Writing 2, and Biology w/lab for the winter term. The courses, not including lab will be meeting twice a week and almost two hours long each. The time in between each class is 10 minutes. The first class (Math) is at 8 am. The last class (Biology) ends at 4 pm. I live about 40 minutes away from my university and work part time, about 15-20 hours a week. Should I just take Biology next term? I have to take A&P spring term and am not sure about pairing it with Biology and maybe Psychology, or Writing for sciences. HELP This last Fall term I took Chemistry, Pre College Algebra, and Writing 1. I got a C in both Chemistry and Math, while an A in Writing. *Edit. I need to take Biology before the end of Spring term to be able to apply to a nursing program partnered with my university.
  4. I should have worded it different. I dislike the decision of taking my prereqs at a University. My community college is less than 5 minutes away, where my University is 40 minutes. I think if I had taken the prereqs at my community college I would have done better in the academics. I also dislike the decision because I just got my fall term grades and they aren't very great. Chemistry -C, Math 95 -C, and Writing -A. I think nursing is a great career. There are somethings I dislike, like the vomit, feces, etc. But other than that I love it. Pursuing nursing was because of a personal event that happened in my childhood.
  5. I am curious. I'm a freshman taking prereqs at university. Beginning to dislike my decision. Wish I could go into the workforce faster, but my grades aren't showing that to be likely. I'm scared that I will end up getting my bachelors degree within 5-7 years.
  6. I'm a freshman in university taking pre reqs for nursing school. I had a plan to try apply to nursing school a year from now. I thought about loading myself with courses for the winter, spring, summer, and fall 2017 term. This upcoming winter term I signed up for Biology, Nutrition, Writing 122 , and Math 111. (17 CREDITS) The first semester I just finished up did not come out so well. I got a C in Math 95, C in Chemistry, and an A is Writing 115. (13 CREDITS) My GPA so far is not great. Since there is so much competition in Oregon, I am starting to think I should go slower with pre reqs. However, I am not sure how I feel about potentially taking 5-7 years to earn a bachelors degree in nursing. I feel depressed. I feel like I will not get into a nursing school, with all my time wasted. I thought I tried my best. I worked part time, two days a week, totaling 10-15 hours. I am 18 years old, so I shouldn't be in a rush, but I want to get into the work force faster. I also thought about asking a community college about transferring into their nursing program to get my ADN first.
  7. QUESTION: What are your opinions on me taking a year of the Nursing Prerequisites at a University and transferring to a community college to finish the rest of the year and getting my ASN? What looks better when wanting to get into a Nursing School?I live in Oregon and there is this "Oregon Promise" for the High School class of 2016 which can give students two years of Community College free. Anyways, I didn't even think about this opportunity and decided to go straight to a University.. I am enrolled to do Pre-Nursing at WOU this fall. I am now just realizing that after finishing the Pre-Nursing prerequisites I would need to apply to a nursing school which from what I've read is really hard to get accepted into. I think I now regret my choice of possibly getting my BSN than a guaranteed ASN.
