Interview with scrubs on

Published

Hello I have an interview coming up and was wondering if it would be appropriate to wear my scrubs from my current facility for the interview. I will be going to the interview straight from work or should I take a change of cloths???

Specializes in Gerontology.

I would say change. You want to look your best.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PACU.

I would change. You don't want to look all rumpled up and our manager would comment on wearing dirty scrubs into a "clean" unit if you were interviewing for our NICU.

Specializes in CEN, CFRN, PHRN, RCIS, EMT-P.

Are you really asking that question?! Dress formal ALWAYS! for an interview. First impression is everything!

Freshen up and change.

It depends on how much you want that job! I would definitely say bring an extra change of clothes - even if they understand you'll be coming straight from work (which they probably won't) - I think it's a simple gesture that shows them how serious you are about the position.

Thanks that is what I was saying but had other nurses tell me it doesn't matter. Just some what proving a point. I didn't know when looking your best and putting your best foot forward wasn't expected. Thanks all :)

Specializes in Oncology.

You definitely need to change.

Specializes in SICU, trauma, neuro.

Take a change of clothes, and whatever you need to tidy up your hair (if your hair is anything like mine). You want to look neat and put together, professional. Plus having your shift's scrubs on doesn't look great from an infection control standpoint.

Good providence on your interview! :)

You need to wear the clothes appropriate for the situation so that you always appear the professional.

When you are working with patients it is appropriate to wear work ready attire, scrubs. When you are going to a meeting, and an interview is certainly a meeting, you need to wear business attire.

Specializes in ER, progressive care.

NEVER wear scrubs to an interview, even if you're coming straight from work. Period.

The fact that you ask this question with scrubs that advertise a different facility...plus it's gross.
