International version of books

Has anyone bought the international version of a textbook? I'm looking at a textbook that says it is the international version, but has the same information as the US version. Is this true? It's a good price, but I'm still nervous about it.

I did for several books and I was always happy. Same info, but with a different cover (usually a different pic and paperback). My anatomy book was $250 and I got the international edition for $70 :)

I got an international edition of my A&P book from eBay, the only differences were a different cover and the price - only $84 comparing to $215 for a book from the college bookstore.

international copies from my experience were exactly like the bookstore version only cheaper.

i would have purchased my NS books international but after searching the ones required are not available in international copies *sigh*

They have been identical the few times I've done it. Sometimes the paper is of lower quality, but I honestly don't care that much! lol

I haven't bought any international editions for nursing texts, but I plan on it if they're available. I bought them for ALL of my prereq courses after the first semester and they were IDENTICAL except for the picture on the front of the book. I saved TONS of money doing it that way, and if I can get my nursing texts in international editions, I will. :D

The best kept secret is out. I tried to tell people at my school, but they were afraid to use them.

EXACTLY the same. Just different cover (soft cover vs hard cover) but all of the material, page numbers etc., EXACTLY the same :)

I always try to get international edition. Mine have always turned out to be soft cover so it's SO MUCH more lighter than the original textbook. Easier to transport to class :D

Hardcover binding doesn't weigh that much - I think the difference is in your head.

I bought my Marieb A&P book as an international edition and saved over $100. It was paperback instead of hardback so it's curling a bit but apart from that it had all the same errors in it as the regular edition!

I found an excellent bookseller through Amazon. This company went out of their way to find me an international edition of one of the books I need for school.

I saved $$$$ :)

Some international books are split into two softback books and they are lighter, my books are lighter than my classmates, and yes pain is in your head.

Funny this subject has come up. I purchased Foundations in Microbiology back on July 23rd thru half.com. I have yet to receive it....It's now August 17th. When I purchased the book it was not disclosed to me that it was an international version until after I paid for it. The picture on the ad showed the 7th edition used in my class and nowhere in the ad did it discloset his. Also... the book cost $123....others are charging only $58 for the international version. I have had to go out and get a text from my bookstore at $160! I'm ticked! Figthing to get my money back from the seller. Would have been nice to be able to make my own decision about purchasing this type of book or not. I had no clue...now I do...lesson learned and the seller is about to learn one also. The seller "went on vacation" and I have emailed them 2 days ago and about to file a claim with half.com. Sorry for the rant.

What I read about this particular book is that some of the case studies are different and so are the exercises in the back.
