initial LVN license

hello. i am from California and i took the NCLEX-PN on the 15th of April. got the "Pass" result from the mail on May 6th and sent the payment for the initial license fee yesterday. i would just like to know how long it takes for the hard copy to be sent and for the BVNPT to post it online?? should i wait for the hard copy or is it okay to start looking for a job once i see it online? thanks much! :)

I did my resume the second i got the good pop up, i took it on 4/23 still awaiting the official results by mail. Im already working at an urgent care as a Medical assistant but i prefer a nursing job.

You should be applying right away. Any facility that wants to hire you will check your license online first. It takes up to 6 weeks to get the hard copy. Congrats! :)

I took my test at the end of March, and I think almost exactly 4 weeks later I got the online results, and got the license in the mail maybe a week later. I started applying right as soon as I got the pop up (Pearson test) and I actually happened to get hired 3 days after my license info was posted online. I'm not sure if you actually need the license or just the pass letter to work, I hear different things from different people. I would definitely start applying though.

Since you know your info is there, start applying for work now. They verify with the state anyway. You do not need the physical license to apply for work.

Congratulations!!! You are officially a nurse.

Let us know when your name shows on the website, i'm right behind you in the process. I got my letter 5/13 and sent the money the same day just waitng for my name to pop up and get my license in the mail.

I took my nclex-pn on feb 3rd

Official results came in the mail 2 wks later, to the day

I sent my $ to BVNPT immediately, and

Received my official license on march 1st

Start looking for a job now!

what pop up are you talking about?

I took my Nclex-PN May 23rd and the system would not let me register- when will i actually get a License number on the state board? if you have not paid will you get a number on the state boards website?

if you have not paid will you get a number on the state boards website?
No. You have to pay before you play in California. You will need to mail a copy of your passing result along with the $150 check to the CA BVNPT. You will be issued a license soon after the BVNPT cashes the check.

Unlike other states, California requires NCLEX-PN passers to first pay for their licensure before a license number will be granted.

I took my NCLEX 4/10 got my official results in the mail 4/26 sent my payment the same day. I called the board last Wednesday and they said that they were barely processing checks from 4/14. They said that it will probably take at least another 2 weeks to get to my check and another 4 weeks after they process the check to get my license number. They said they are short staffed and really behind. My check still hasn't been cashed. :(

I live in California and know it's a struggle to be so patient after working so hard for your license. I took my test February 5th, found out I passed march 8th, and JUST received my license a little over a week ago. I too was worried after 3 weeks with my check not cashing. But for me i noticed my check cashed around the middle of april and it still took a few weeks after that for me to receive my actual license. I have no convictions,DUI, or even a speeding ticket!! Just try not to worry, it will come :)
