I'am considering trying to get my Bachelors in Nursing from Indiana State. Is there anyone out there that is taking this program through Indiana??? I was just wondering about how a person does clinicals and how long do they say it will take to complete the program. I want to try and work as much as possible while attending. So could someone please help me understand about this college and how it works???
Thanks

I am currently in the ISU distance program for my Masters degree
Do you have to do clinicals??? And if so do you find someone on your own??? I'am considering doing the bachelors degree. I'am so nervous about doing a distance learning for nursing.

What prevents me from going with ISU at this time is the way they handle clinicals. If you do a search of the posts on this site you will find people say that ISU does nothing to help the student find a clinical site or preceptor. You have to do all the legwork. I don't want to start shelling out money only to find I'm stuck and can't finish. I posted a thread asking about this in my area. No one responded. That tells me that the ISU program doesn't fly where I am and I would have to do it all. For my tuition buck, the institution should provide the clinical experience. I seriously doubt I would ever go with ISU because of this reason.

Jode,
I was just accepted to ISU FNP program...I see you are in the masters there. How would you review the program and professors? Plus how easy/difficult to utilize the online education.
Thank you so much.
I have found them to be very user friendly and the Blackboard program is easy to use.
Thanks Jode,
Another nurse on the board had a horrible experience with the patho and adv stats professors. She also mentioned that she thought that most of the professors were not FNP's and resume's were not high quality. I did go on the web site and looked at the faculty but it didn't go over their credential's. How have you found the professors?
If you had stat's as an undergrad do you still have to take another stats class? Also, do they allow you to use PA's for perceptors??? I know that Southern Indiana does not allow for PA perceptors.
Overall, are you happy with the Masters program?
Thank you so much. I am trying to decide between ISU and USI. I have to let ISU know by mid April.
Thank you.

In their literature, they say they will find you a preceptior in your area by contacting the nurse executives? Has this not been the case? Apparently from this message, they make you do all the legwork?

ISU will do the legal legwork and get the contract established. When that is done you contact the facility to make arrangements for a preceptor. I wouldn't say you do ALL the legwork but its about 50/50. If you aren't proactive with things like this then it's not going to be your thing. If you like organizing and arranging things then its a better fit. Even in your classes you just have to be very self-motivated and be able to get the job done without a lot of hand holding.
