Just did 4 hours in triage. Someone called out, they were short and needed some help. So, I said sure, no problem, I'll come in for 4. So, triaged 63 pts in 4 hours. We're a community hospital, not inner city, so that may seem like a light load to some. But the conveyor belt never stopped. When I left, our census for the day was 192. Business is good.

Any time in the penalty box on the day after a holiday should be "hazard pay" ... hope you're treating yourself to whatever your favorite relaxation is right now. :)

We had a crazy post-holiday day too. I felt like I was constantly a few steps behind all day, we were short residents and NPs so could only have so many rooms open and there was a crowd in the waiting room. I go in for a princess shift today and here's to hoping it's a little less busy!

Average od less than 4 minute per pt. mut be a fairly consise triage.
Yeah, mostly esi 4's. Put most of 'em back into the waiting room and then had a tech bring them to a room as it opened. I had a tech who got vs while i did the triage. We were moving pretty fast. I was really into keeping it focused. And our computer system makes quick work of the entries. Plus i can type as they talk.

OMG haven't heard it called the penalty box since a nurse I worked with left a few years ago! Brought back memories, thanks :)
