immunizations EB info

Hi there. Well, I'm almost done with Nursing II. Still hanging in there Finals are next week. We have one last assignment due and it's a stinker. We need to write a paper about a mom that is worried about the safety and necessity of a DTaP immunization. We need to give 2 sources w/documentation of evidenced-based practice information and how else we could meet her cognitive and emotional needs r/t the vaccination. We all seem to be scratching our heads because it's seems to be harder than it sounds. I've used the cdc for one of mine and I'm thinking of using Ackley's Nursing Diagnosis Book to see if there is anything there. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

have you checked NIH? Also great resources would be any research journals. I know we had access to an online library of journals through my school.

Did you check with WHO? They keep millions of kids alive.

If you need evidence-based recommendations regarding the immunization, use the literature, such as:

Wilson TR. Update on adolescent immunization: review of pertussis and the efficacy, safety, and clinical use of vaccines that contain tetorifice-diphtheria-acellular pertussis. Journal of Pediatric Health Care. 20(4):229-37, 2006 Jul-Aug.

I'm not sure how old the child is? Otherwise, check Food and Drug Administration Home Page for the drug approval info, which should have safety and efficacy data.
