im starting a new job in home health next weak i wondering what to expect the first week, any advise would be greatcome on i know there has to be someone out there that can help me

you should be with a preceptor who will take you on visits to client's homes, or to see children in schools, or seniors' facilities

and you learn community resources, make sure you create your own useful phone book

good luck

hi :nurse: my first week went well. i rode with different nurses. mostly i just watched. wednsday i did a regular visit. thursday i did a recert and friday i did a eval. my supervisor was with me for that. boy i had a headach after that.:banghead: the oasis itself is not hard, but there are alot of other forms to fill out. i think once i get use to all the paperwork, and what goes where it will be ok. i like hh very much so far but its only been a week. monday i will be with a nurse who has 2 babies to see. the plan in for me to do the visits with help from her. i think by wednsday i well ask to do a visit by myself.:selfbonk: i bought myself a gps system today. i am terrified of getting lost. i hope it helps. where i am working the don wants us to finish the paper work before. we go home. i work from 800 to 4:30. she made the comment that we get paid to see the patient but not to visit. most of the nurses try to finish the paperwork in the home. if they cant finish there they finish at the office. i think ill be able to keep up and finish the work in the office. i will keep everyone posted.

I started fulltime with my new job, the first week I was with another nurse for 4 days, did the Oasis training on Wednesday, and Friday I did the visits with my preceptor watching me, but I got stuck with the paperwork on my own over the weekend, a recert and a admission. Then last week I was on my own, I came home every day with a headache, thankGod I only had one recert and a discharge to do besides sup visits. and my skilled nurse visits

Hi everyone,

I am interviewing with a HH agency, I think they want to hire me. I am a new grad but Ive been an EMT for 5 yrs, and have ACLS training. I did a rotation on HH while in school and loved it. Its either this job or a community ER position. Any advice?? I like the hours for HH. I like the suggestion of making up a resource phone book, thats what I feel confused about referrals.

Pam
