I'm freaking out! Help!

I can tell you in Ohio they are pretty quick to let you know. They usually send an investigator to speak with you (at least they did with me). I will tell you I found the investigator to be the most compassionate man I had met in a long time. Did you divert drugs from work and what kind of facility did you work in? Usually in my experience if you divert the Pharmacy Board is notified and then the Nursing Board gets involved. In Ohio I have found it is usually the pharmacy board that pushes for criminal charges. I would think your employer would have told you they were going to report you. Anyway, it is really important right now to get yourself involved in a treatment program or at least AA/NA. It will be necessary to seek help whether you were reported or not. I made the mistake of not doing what I needed to do and relapsed often for many years. My advice to you is right now seek out help and do NOT take a job for awhile passing narcotics. I know others will disagree with that but I would not put any temptation in front of me. I have been in recovery for 14 years and under no circumstances would I ever handle narcotics again even if I could. I don't need that risk because I know what I might do. I hope this helps you some....and know that depression comes with the withdrawl from the drugs. Things will get better I promise.

If I were you, (sounds like your guilty) I would contact an attorney asap...license is one thing, taking drugs is a felony.

I think I might have been reported to the board for taking their drugs! I don't know what to do, everything I have worked for is going to be lost! I'm so depressed I have been barely getting out of bed.

Its a shame we can not redo our past, as my sponsor tells me always play it out to the finish and see if you can live with that finish before you do something stupid.

I'm going to fill in some dots here. You will be informed of an investigation, they will want to interview you. I couldn't tell you when that happens, it took just around 6 months for my BON to get around to me, it depends on how busy they are. I will tell you to not avoid them it they do contact you; that ends only one way- summary suspension of your license.

guilty or not I would suggest you seek the advice of an administrative lawyer. They will guide you on your next move- they may advise that if you are guilty to admit your wrong doing- particularly if you are in a state that has an alternative to discipline program. My state does not have an alternative to discipline so my lawyer advised me on how to admit guilt without falling all over myself saying more than I needed to.

If you are guilty don't admit it here until your case is in resolution or you have admitted guilt- this site is not anonymous.

if you are guilty get to an AA or NA meeting, stay around here, you will receive lots of support. Good luck!

You resigned but your unclear about the evidence. Most states require reporting to Nursing Boards if they feel you diverted drugs for yourself. It can be a federal felony, but seldom is prosecuted unless a large amount. Everything depends on the evidence against you and you make no note of that. But certainly sound panicky which is usually a guilty sign. Usually. The first rule is don't panic. If you haven't been informed of pending investigation or charges you may get lucky. But at the same time nursing boards take a while, criminal charges only a few days. If you snitched the drugs, get clean. Narcotic addiction in nursing is doomsville. But I can tell you that you don't need the Board to help you with this. Be soo very careful what you say, even here. If they got evidence against you let them come to you, don't act guilty. I can not tell you how important your behavior will be. Remain calm. Good Luck.
