Ill Application.

Published

Hi everyone,

I am an LPN graduate in the Philippines. I am an immigrant living back in Chicago now and working as a CNA. I was wondering if i can go ahead and file my application in Illinois while waiting for my transcript and diploma to be sent to the Board. Or should i wait and then do the CES first. Kinda confused here. Can anyone help me?I dont know what to file first they said CES takes time. But still waiting for my transcript and diploma from Manila.

I am a newly graduate and no nursing experience yet. What forms should I sent them and whats not.? They said if your a foreign graduate you need to file your application soon as possible. Please help from those who has done this before. Thanks and GOD bless.

Wait! Let me clarify this. You graduated LPN here in the Philippines? Have it ever occured to you that LPN is not recognized here in the Philippines? There are lots of schools offering it, but its still not recognized!Though your an immigrant, you wont have a problem with the immigration, but if your own country doesn't recognize a certain course, why on earth would other country recognized it especially the US?

You are going to need to complete the CES and wait to see if they even accept your credentials/curriculum. As mentioned above, just because you went thru a program in the Philippines, it does not mean that it is accepted in all states here for licensure. It is not recognized by your own government for licensure, so it is not an automatic thing that the US is going to recognize it automatically either. Each state also is free to make their own rules and they do for licensure. Licensure and immigration are two very distinct items and are not actually related.

CGFNS is going to need to receive your documents from your program and then evaluate them. Until that is done, there is no reason whatsoever to submit anything to the state for licensure, would be just throwing out money. They are unable to even look at your application until they have the CES in their hands.

Would not advise doing anything further until you are sure that the program is going to be accepted first by CGFNS. If it is not, then you are not going to be able to get licensed in Illinois.

You are also an immigrant, so that does not waive any other requirements for you since you are still a citizen of the Philippines as well.

I need some other peoples opinion on the processing. My status in the US is not your business . For all i know i can still apply and get my CES and sit for the NCLEX because someone has done it before in my school and maybe if his or her around she or he can tell me what he did.

WOW!

No need to jump on people who are trying to help you. It seems like you are looking for information in the wrong place.

Perhaps you can try and find another person from the Philippines, who has also graduated from an unrecognized LPN program in the Philippines, and has somehow managed to become licensed by the state of Illinois. That would be your best bet. ;)

We have given you opinions as well as the steps required for licensure in the US. What you are failing to understand is that licensure and immigration are two very different things. Having a green card to work here, or even US citizenship, still does not exempt one from the requirements for licensure. The requirements for the LPN license are the same for the RN license, and both require that the CES be completed first. We never recommend for anyone, even going for the RN license to pay the fee for the license, etc., until they have verification from either CGFNS or the actual state that their credentials have been accepted.

If you do not wish to follow what you have been told after you asked, that is your business. But any behavior like what you have exhibited here will not be tolerated at all. If you do not like it, feel free to go somewhere else where you will not get correct information.

What you need to do is complete the CES and follow what we have told you all along. Does not matter where you are from or where you trained, the issue is that it was not in the US and you need to meet the requirememts that the state put in place for all that have graduated from a foreign program.

Your behavior is your choice, but is not accepted here.

Whoa! Go easy there tiger! No need to be rude.

Tell you what, I'm sorry for you.

I want to smack my forehead, but I won't... Why on earth would anyone go to an LPN school in the Philippines?

Hello?

And the process for any foreign trained nurse to work in Illinois is the same, one must get approval of the CES first.

Simple as that, and that is what was told to you. That is the process and the only one that needs to be started with. Absolutely no reason to do anything further until you know that you meet their requirements as you will not get any money refunded.

Thread closed since the initial question has been answered. No sense in letting it keep on. Poster did not like what they were told.
