Good Morning All!
Well, this morning I decided that I just wasn't prepared enough to sit the NCLEX-RN tomorrow, so I rescheduled for the end of the month.
Good luck to all who are taking it in the coming weeks!

Good luck to you! Best to go in with some confidence. (Even though 99% of us feel unconfident when we leave. :))

Gotta do whatch gotta do!
Try the online version of Elsevier's CAT to help you prepare. It is a great confidence builder (just like taking the NCLEX over and over again), and it's pretty cheap--unlimited uses for a month.
Here's the description of the item.
Here's where you can purchase it.
I loved this thing. Wore myself out practicing. Took the NCLEX, got the minimum 75 questions, finished in 45 minutes and actually found it a little boring. (That kind of excitement, we don't need, right?)
Good luck, hon.

[ulice,
I am also a foreign educated nurse, born in Romania, living in Texas. I have applyed for the nclex California on May. Still haven't got the ATT and I am getting craisy at home. I would like to work in a hospital like you, doesn't metter what, until I'll pass the nclex. I have a green card. How could you work in hospital without licence? I have asked about a job in the hospital and they told me that I need a license for every job
Can you help me with this question? I would be very grateful!
Monica

Where are you in Texas? If near the Dallas area, email me privately--there might be a place for you in my hospital.
Also, why take the NCLEX in California? Same test here--it is the national licensing exam.... same test in every state.
Also, I don't understand the wait, unless it is because all the new grads are applying to take the NCLEX now.
Anyway, email me--let's "talk." (I'm on my way out the door to work now, though, so it will be late, late tonight or early tomorrow morning before I get your note....)
Hey Monica, I don't think that you can work without Licence, if you had been graduated outside the US area, It's my personal experience in the past, people paint the thing so easy. And It's not....
This opportunity is only for national graduates, only for a year, until they pass the Nclex, also in some cases in coordination with the CGFNS, you could do that but take a while to get the permission, plus that have to be recruited in those countries like the ones that have visa for nurses like India and Phillipines, I am not working as an RN, Iam a Patient care tec, at a vascular floor, it's just ok, but if i pass going to the ER on my Hospital, looking forward for this excitement!
Take the CNA board and find a job at a Hosp is important for you, I really appreciate that this job give me confidence, walking around with Rns, drawing blood, EKG, Hosp comp System, just things that keep you in touch with the American Health Care System, very different that our countries.
You get quiet a living almust 16p/H not bad at all!
Hope that you find miy information usefull at some point, feel free to keep in touch again, concerns whatever!
Ulices. I wish you good luck and kep posted and focus, hard to do.......

I considered changing my date too. However, I didn't. I felt like there was so much more that I needed to learn. I figured if I changed the date I would procrastinate so I might as well get it over with. Glad I did- I passed. Even after I took the exam I still felt like there was so much to know. Do you have a study plan? How are you studying?

The only thing with which I would take issue is, I don't think you will get $16/hr in Dallas. I have worked at two of the best paying hospitals in Dallas. One paid $9/hr plus differential--the other two paid less.
But there are benefits--insurance, paid days off, ability to work overtime and receive time and a half.
Offer to contact me privately still stands....
