I need your opinion.....

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment, well in my eyes at least. I didn't get in to the only program which I applied to (yes, I know I screwed up by only applying to one school) and every program has closed applications for an evening program. I will apply to one school this month for the January evening program and I can't apply to the other school's until next year. Well if I do not get in to the program for January I have thought about attending a LPN program (are they 1 year programs or two?) and once completing the LPN program I'd apply to more ADN Nursing program's. Is this a good idea or would it be a waste of time? I am lost as to what I should do. I'd like to get some opinions if you wouldn't mind.

All I have left to take is ceramics, CPR and I have completed all of my other classes. What do you recommend I do?

Hi!

Are you looking into the LPN program through BOCES? Which college are you applying to this month? I thought NCC was the only school around that accepted students in January.

I have decided to stick it out at NCC and apply for the spring and then fall semesters. I have a couple more classes to take. I can also take Chem since eventually I will be going for my BSN and that is a requirement so I might as well take that while I am waiting.

Do you need CPR before you enter the program. I do not remember them saying anything about that at the information session that I went to.

Good luck

You need CPR to graduate so you could wait to take it.

Tracy, you will be taking Chem at NCC??

Hi!

Yes, I will be taking Chem at NCC. I just registered yesterday. They have a section where lab is on Friday night and then lab is on Saturday morning. I have also decided that since I have the time until I get into the program I will learn to speak Spanish so I am taking a spanish class as well. I figured it can't hurt with going into nursing.

Good luck

The LPN course is usually a one-year program. It is not a waste of time if you spend that time waiting to hear from schools you might not even get into. It's an excellent way to get into nursing and get started. The LPN to RN programs are usually a year after that. So in 2 years you're finished either way.

Can anyone recommend good LPN programs in New York, preferably the Long Island area?

Hi jbjints,

I am sort of in the same situation as you. I applied to the LPN program at my school as well as the RN. The LPN accepted me, but the RN will not post the candidates until June 12 and guess what I would have to register for the LPN classes on June 5th !!!!! So.......:uhoh3: if I don't apply to the LPN and do not get accepted to the RN, then I am stuck waiting another semester for the RN and next YEAR for the LPN, since they accept only during the fall:uhoh21:

Sorry I hijacked your thread :lol2:

Good luck to you

MinnieLynn: Where in NY are you located? Long Island or upstate. I live on Long Island and I did not think that any school around here offered LPN or RN just RN.

Thanks

I live in manhattan. I attend Bronx Community College (cuny). They have an LPN (evening program) and a RN program, but like all CUNY you have to be a student to apply. I am not 100% sure for the LPN, but for the RN you do have to be a BCC student. Did you get accepted to any program? This process is nerve wrecking :banghead:

Hi!

I applied to Nassau Community College but did not get in. My only hope for the Fall is if someone decides they don't want their seat and they call me as an alternate.

Good luck

I've heard that people drop all the time for various reasons.... so hopefully this will be the case for you. {{fingers crossed}}
