I need CPNE help!!!!

Published

After passing all my Nursing exams in 4 months, I am now FCCA and CPNE eligible. I have printed up this 500 page Excelsior CPNE guide. Where do I start? It is a lot of info, and I am so confused. I ordered Rob's DVd. and I do plan on attending a workshop. No date yet, but I need to get started. Any advice would be appreciated from the CPNE veterans.

Sit down and read that CPNE study guide, cover to cover. Seriously. The WHOLE THING. Then start getting comfy with Unit IV, the critical elements. There are great resources here: http://cpnex.blogspot.com and here: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/cpne-notes-ec-308371.html and here: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/i-took-excelsior-300748.html. Also, make sure you get on the EPN (EC's Electronic Peer Network) and head to the CPNE discussion/study board. I give a lot of credit to the EPN for passing my CPNE on the first attempt! Lots of good information there, including an FAQ that answers many common CPNE questions. Congratulations on making it to this point! :)

Awesome, Erikadawn! They say just take a deep breath....;) I give you my Best wishes. You can do it!

Congrats! Don't let it overwhelm you. (I say after being overwhelmed several times. lol) It's a lot to know, so take it one bite at a time. After you read it the first time, you are going to realize just how much you need to know, so start to make a game plan. Right now, I do one PCS careplan to documentation every other day. I do all my mnemonics daily, and practice my labs daily. When I first started, it was all about creating the mnemoics and learning the steps of each Area of Care. Best of luck to you! I hope to see you over the EPN.

Hi!

I have learned so much from reading your comments. THANKS!!! I'm preparing to take the CPNE and I'm looking for a place to take a workshop. I live in tulsa and so far I have read of www.cpnereadyworkshop.com (Josh) but his website is restructuring; www.cheducation.com (east coast) and someone named Lynn but I don't have a website for this person. Does someone have this person's details? Do you have any other recommendations? I really appreciate you guys!!!!!!!

What state are you in, and do not go to a workshop until you have memorized some critical elements, otherwise you will be frustrated, send me an email.

Erikadawn, how did you finish quickly? Give me insight to what yo've done. I'm trying to finich by Sept. Congrats!!!

Well I got mad at work because the RN's at my job was dumping the stuff they did not want to do on me.I am the only Lpn on my. shift, with the Rn's,NP,Physicians. So I printed out the test info from Excelsior, used my Suanders review for Pn and started going line by line. I also took practice tests over and over.I also did flashcardexchange, lots of good stuff there.I studied whenever I could. Worked a lot of night shifts n studied.I took 3 tests in one month. The Lifespans slowed me down I failed 2 and changed up my studyn. I guess I was just mad,and it motivated me!
