I was always there..

For years I’ve come into your room at night

As you slept peacefully...I was there making sure you were alright.

When you weren’t feeling well or too weak to eat

I was there helping you get better and back on your feet

I held your hand when you first arrived feeling scared and alone.

And happily got you ready, when the doctor said you could go home.

I’ve done all this and more because I care.

I just hope you will remember me as someone who was always there.

This has been my life’s work andI expect nothing in return.

And I will faithfully care for you until it becomes another nurse’s turn.

Beautifully written, sums most nurses up. I have so much respect for nurses, always will. I will never forget the nurses who cared for me,they have done so much, always been there for me, showed compassion, and really impacted my life. Thank You Nurses!!

Very beautiful and so true. It is precisely this I wish patients would remember when they grouch that they can get no rest while in the hospital.
