Morning everyone,
Second preg I am at about 8-9 weeks. Have had the last 3 weeks off work. Cannot stop vomiting!! Any tips you have seen that may help!! I am taking diclectin (which is also known as bendectin which was taken off the US market some time ago...I am in Canada...anyways it is vit B6 and an antihistamine....taking up to 6/day). Sometimes I throw it up. But generally even if it stays down i do nothing but hover over the side of my couch day and night trying not to wretch. I cant take this insanity!!!!!

My heart goes out to you I know where you are coming from and it is awful. Ginger is used a lot over here but I hate ginger so it made me worse.

With my second child, I was so sick that I most of the time I was totally unable to get out of bed. I was put on Phernegern (sp?) and it made things worse. It made me even more tired and I would actually sleep all day and not eat. Not good!! I had to have an ealy sonogram to rule out twins.
I was finally prescribed Zofran and it was wonderful!!!!!!! It is VERY expensive but worth every penny when you are too sick to move or even open your eyes. Thank God my insurance paid for it.
My daughter is 2 and perfectly fine. I had NO side effects either. I joked that I was going to get tatoo that read "Zofran is my guardian angel!!" :)
Good Luck! I know from experience how horrible it is!!!!!!!!

I've been through HG and thankfully survived. If I were to go through HG again, I would blend fruits into smoothies w/ LOTS of ice and eat potassium-rich foods -because it was extremely hard to keep anything solid down. I discovered that when I blend foods such as fruits, they tend to stay down and keep me hydrated.

Oh, big ((((hugs)))). I had HG with both of my pregnancies, so I can understand how sick you feel.
If it hadn't been for Phenergan, Zofran and Unisom/B6, I wouldn't have been able to drink or eat anything!
There is a website devoted to hyperemesis gravidarum (HG)-here is the link:
HER Foundation They've got a message board where other moms that have survived and are currently dealing with HG share how they are/were able to get nutrition, along with other great info.

hello, i feel sorry for you that it all gives you hard time in such a beautifull event of life. i am nursing student and just finishing my ob rotation. my advice is if it persists over days and nothing helps you should see you doctor. dehydration and electrolytes imbalance, plus poor nutrition are no good for you or your baby. what you can also try is herbs: chamomile and rasberry leafs soaked in water and inhale or drink. what i was taught that if you cannot keep leven clear iquids down that is sign to contact your provider (one of many). please be carefull and it never hurts contact your md and follow up. god bless and good luck.

I'm a Zofran fan, too! It worked like a champ.

Zofran worked for me and so did reglan and I could actually function and felt normal. The worst time of day for me was in the evening between 4pm and midnight.. I found that if I would just eat something like applesauce or jello and drink gatorade then I was ok.. Good luck...

I am in the same boat, but I am 15 weeks..and yes still very very sick. The OB put my on B6, unisom and Zofran. I have to say if I don't take the Unisom at night I am sooo sick in the A.M that I need to take a PRN Zofran. Zofran is my friend!!
