$24/hr

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I'm new to PA area and have been an RN for about 1 year and 2 months. A recruiter just called regarding a position 1.5 hours away from where I am. Starting base pay is $24/hr... how does that compare to the pay in the PA area? Does it sound right or is it low? or good?

What part of PA and what type of nursing? This will help us answer your questions?

1 year and 4 months of experience in L&D.

Job opportunity in Reading, CA in a teaching hospital... starting at $24.00

Specializes in OR.

I know new grad pay in the allentown area is low 20's so that sounds about right.

Specializes in hospice.

You have to be able to compare the cost of living in the target location to the cost of living in your current location to know whether that is a good pay rate. RNs in NYC make much more than that, but a studio apartment in NYC rents for over 2000$. 24$/hr is pretty good pay IF rents and other costs are low.

Yes, and asking people familiar with the local market is one way of doing that. Which is what the OP is doing.

$24 seems a little skimpy for over a year of experience, even in Reading, since I think that's about what new grads start at in the same area. Not too far off, but I'd ask if that quote factors in your experience.

The OP really needs to clarify.
