First there are going to be some people that will pass and not study and simply get lucky or have a memory like Sheldon Cooper... You may not be that person. To pass Nclex you have to get SATA questions right. Lippincott sells an entire book on Alternative format questions and I highly suggest if you buy anything buy it! $25 on Amazon.
I found that I wasn't reading the question and asking myself what does the question want from me? Kaplan's test taking strategies is perfect for answering questions. Slow down and take your time you have 6 hours.
Study everyday and do at least 300 questions a day, reading the rationales and taking your time. I failed 2 times before finally passing, you can make it to! Good luck

I take issue with your last sentence as nurses that fail the NCLEX are not always better nurses. Nurses that fail/never pass the NCLEX are not nurses but someone who graduated from a school of nursing. There are excellent nurses that passed the NCLEX the first time with minimum or maximum number of questions (or any number in between). There are also first time passers that are questionable nurses. In the same note there are nurses that took multiple attempts to pass the NCLEX that are great nurses but horrible test takers but there are nurses who took multiple attempts to pass and are horrible nurses
In order to be a US nurse one MUST pass the NCLEX as that is the minimum standard of a entry level nurse. There is no way around that. A great nurse may pass first time or after multiple attempts. Failing the first time does NOT guarantee a great nurse just like passing first attempt does not mean one will be a great nurse. However if one does not pass the NCLEX they cannot be licensed as a nurse in the US
Justybeachy or what ever I don't care if you are offended... It was meant to boost the self esteem of people that fail

Test taking strategies are an excellent way to understand what the questions are truly asking.
I know some great nurses who passed first try, and some who passed on subsequent attempts. As the NCLEX is a standard of the bare minimum one needs to know to safely practice as a nurse, I don't see how passing it on whichever attempt correlates to "how good" a nurse one is. It simply is the requirement to obtain licensure.

That was not very nice. How are you a nurse with such a lack of care and disrespect for people.

Probably get flamed for this, but oh well. We already pay an arm and a leg for nursing school, if you do you research and enter a quality program there should be no need to purchase anything to pass the NCLEX. I'm just going to assume your last sentence was a typo.

Interesting that the OP chose to take the trouble to post (semi-coherently) about how to pass the NCLEX and become a great nurse....yet displays little to none of the qualities I know to be required.
Too bad some people DON'T stop taking the test after multiple failures. It might just save some of our loved ones from their "great" nursing skills...
