I've searched the career advice section, and there really aren't many responses on that portion. I'm updating my resume. There is a 2 year span of unemployment. My husband transferred to another state for his job and we decided for me to stay at home since we had a younger child and knew no one at the time to help with him. I'm now working agency and the hours are just too sporadic with cancellations. How do I address the unemployed time on my resume. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I had same issue and for the gap I just put "Homemaker" the time period, then followed by my previous employer. Think about it Homemaker is a full-time job in itself :)
hope this helps:

Lacie - Yes, I did the same thing when I had started staying at home with my two stepsons. I had the same question as the OP, and followed the same advice. The prospective employer said the same thing, that what I had been doing at home was indeed a hard job. Definetly, from my memories of what I had to put up with from the older boy! Talk about needing combat pay!!

Hi Sissie, good to "see you" again. See you in Central....
Agree w/ other posters. You were a stay at home mom. Nothing wrong with that, and don't act apologetic about it! Good luck, and I know you will find something soon! :wink2:
