Hi All,
I see that Houston Methodist is coming up north to recruit nurses. They are coming to NYC and Baltimore tomorrow, and Boston a few days later. I was surprised that they felt the need to come all the way up here to find nurses.
Is anyone familiar with Houston Methodist? Are they doing an expansion?
How are the RN salaries in that area?

I find it curious that Houston Methodist would recruit nurses from out of state when so many nurses in Texas would kill to have an acute care hospital job.
Hi Commuter,
I was thinking the exact same thing. They are advertising it hardcore too. I'm seeing the advertisement on the side of my screen every time i'm online, for the past week , at least.
Am I allowed to post the link here?

The hospitals are all looking for the best applicants though. Unfortunately, it is not really in the applicant's favor. All you can do is keep working at making sure that you are one of the best applicants. I know they only hire BSN nurses for a fact though. I attended a career fair in Baltimore yesterday, and the recruiter wouldn't even give me the time of day.

I live in Houston and the recruiter that was escorting me to my interview told me they were headed north again to recruit some more.
Why? Idk. I just assume maybe they want a mini vacation and came up with this Methodist is the best hospital system to work for in Houston.
they were having a huge employee appreciation holiday dinner today. So festive!

We (Houston) are having problems finding experienced BSN nurses - especially those with specialty expertise.... that's what is driving all of the recruitment efforts. It is the same in most South Tx areas, including San Antonio & Corpus Christi. The Valley has always had major recruiting difficulties, but for some additional types of issues.

I live in Boston and received a post card in the mail for a recruiting event. My excitement lasted about one second when I noticed that they requested at least 18 months experience, in specifically mentioned specialties. As a new grad, I immediately knew that I would be wasting my time. It's nice to know that with some experience the possibilities are enless. I love Texas, specifically the Houston area.

Methodist is building a brand new hospital in The Woodlands. I work in an ICU at a different hospital in The Woodlands and I know we have a hard time finding experienced ICU staff. I can't remember how many ICU beds the new Methodist is going to have, but there are already rumors about hefty sign on bonuses for experienced nurses. I imagine it is the same for other departments as well.
