Holiday Pay

How does your facility compensate employees who work holidays? Am currently employeed at a clinic that gives everybody except one provider and an assistant/nurse holidays off with pay. The provider (physician, PA, NP) is a salaried person thus gets an alternative day off. The assistant/nurse gets 8 hours of time and one-half pay and 16 hours of on call pay= $2.00 hr. On call means that you are available to respond and be at the clinic within 20 minutes, unless its emergent then immediately. Seems like the 5 assistants/nurses who take turns with this holiday scheduling are getting the short end of the stick, or perhaps slapped with the stick especially when you work the majority of the holiday....

No holiday pay here...holidays are built into our 15 days (12hr. shifts)...if we are off on the holiday and we want to get paid, we have to take a PTO day. If you work the holiday you just get your regular pay...:o

No holiday pay here either. renerian

Our facility provides 10 paid holidays per year. If I actually worked a holiday I would receive pay @ 1.5 x's my salary.

I work in an OR where these 10 holidays are covered with call @ straight call pay with holiday overtime salary paid for call-ins.

I'm surprised to see holiday pay isn't the norm.

I have never in my twenty years as a nurse worked anywhere they gave holiday pay.

If you work the holidays you get double time. If you don't work you don't get any pay.

We get all holidays off and receive 8 hours paid time in addition to being off. Rumor has it that this year Doc get $500 bonus, Nurses $250 and all support staff $100. We will wait and see.

We get $100.00 extra for every day we work christmas eve, day and ny eve, day.

Double time if you work the actual holiday...nothing for the "eve"

Time and a half for 10 holidays a year. Our 'eves' don't count either.

double time for holidays worked

Christmas Eve and New years Eve (3-11, 11-7) are counted as holidays and are paid the double rate also

The last hospital I worked at paid only the 3 winter holidays as time- and-a half. All other holidays were not paid at a higher rate. The facility I work at now does not pay any holiday pay.

I think it is so unfair! No wonder no one wants to work on those shifts.:(

we have 12 hour shifts. we get 8 hours to take off. if we work on the holiday, we get regular pay.
