What is the time table once on the list to entering Nursing school at HFCC?I have been told 6-12 months by some administrators and 12-18 months by other administrators? Any one know with more accuracy? Thx
oguesswhat 441 Posts Specializes in Med/Surg. Dec 10, 2008 It kinda depends. I was told 18 months originally but got in at 11 months (last winter) but then I also know people who had to wait longer. It just depends on who's on the list before you and if they say no when their time comes up to get in.

ToxicShock 506 Posts Jan 19, 2009 Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm curious as to how the wait list works. If you apply and don't get accepted, are you then put on a wait list?
tonyal 328 Posts Jan 19, 2009 You do the prereqs and take the net test. and then your placed on the waitlist. while on the waitlist you take the rest of the required classes and then enter when your number comes up. it is first come first serve.
ToxicShock 506 Posts Jan 19, 2009 Does that mean that you're guaranteed a spot on the wait list as long as you score the minimum on the NET and have the minimum grades/GPA? Do people who score higher on the NET and have a higher GPA get on the wait list (and ultimately the nursing program) earlier than those with lower-end grades?
MySimplePlan 547 Posts Jan 19, 2009 Nope. You just need your pre-reqs and the NET exam completed...how well you did on each, or what your GPA is does not matter - at this time. I wouldn't be surprised if the entrance requirements become a bit more stringent eventually; they are concerned about the readiness of applicants to endure such a difficult program, and want to ensure the nursing students stay in nursing school and not fall out, either from poor grades or unmet expectations. I really don't know anybody that waited longer than 12 months to get invited into the nursing program. HFCC is continually working on expanding their nursing program to get more nurses into the workplace. They're in the middle of a third cohort in their award-winning partnership with the Henry Ford Health System, as well as having just rolled out their weekend nursing program. They are always looking at every aspect of the program to make it the best it can be, and it shows.
