Here is a crazy question

Are you older students using bookbags or back packs for school? You know I'm just about 30 and I just keep thinking do thirty year old students wear bookbags? Will it hurt my back, will I look like I'm trying to be 19 again. I don't have a oppinion one way or the other, just wondering. LOL is this a crazy question or what?

i'm glad to know i won't be the only "older" student carrying a backpack. :D

i was looking at one the other day and i kind of felt silly (like your going to look ridiculous carrying that....:chuckle..)

i'm wanting one of those sling backpacks.:)

Well, this topic was covered on one of the nursing gear threads on the general forums page and some wonderful poster mentioned Zuca. I am planning on getting one of these when my nursing program starts. www.zuca.com

I got my bag from zappos.com

Their selection of bags is huge and they have user reviews for them too. Free shipping!

:chuckle

Wow... those are really attractive and functional. I don't have a lot of extra funds because my EFC is through the roof this year, but I might have to splurge on one anyway. Now I have to decide between brown frame/baby blue insert or pink frame/white insert. Decisions, decisions...

it's been awhile since i've been in school but this year I think I'm going to get a shoulder tote. I saw a cute one made by Jansport at Target. Not that expensive. But in the past I have used a backpack and never once thought about how I looked. Maybe bc I was younger than I am now, but I still dont think about it. I'm there for my schooling and could care less about what i look like. but that's me. But once I start my nursing program I may need one of those rolling bags! good luck to everyone this semester!

Yikes! The Zuca Pro is really, really expensive! The Sport is a little more reasonable -- by comparison, anyway. And they *are* kind of funky looking!

BTW, to my fellow coots: I know you'll get a laugh out of this. When I put my backpack on, I feel much younger! Like a young student! Of course, my back has other opinions... :chuckle

Okay, I have to tell this story...

I used to always see this guy around campus. He was about 40 and always had a backpack on his back and did that side-to-side kind of walk that 12 years do. He also had a really horrible bowl cut. Based on his appearance I thought he was one of the "special" students.

Then spring rolled around and it turned out he was my English 102 teacher...

Although I'm not entirely convinced he isn't just a little bit "special."

Yeah the Pro is definitely too expensive for my blood. I think the sport is pretty reasonable, though. I mean the frame can support of to 300 pounds! My $300 exercise bike can't even do that.

I am 57 and after my first semester I had to switch to bag on wheels. since I am only taking one class at school (rest online) I will probably just carry. My back was killing me to carry all those books, it got really heavy.

The Zuca pro is designed more for salesmen and air travel. The Sport is the one that has the school related accessories and compartments in it. I am looking forward to having it for school because of all the ways it is balanced better for pulling along behind you. Also, it will be nice to use it as a seat when you are waiting in the halls. I just hate having to sit up against a wall on the ground.

I'm going into my second semester of NS and let me tell you...there is NO WAY that I could have carried all my books, medical supply bag, purse, and other "things" without having a set of "wheels." I bought a rolling duffle bag at Wal-Mart for $25 and it was the best purchase I have made in years!!! No joke!!! It's large enought to hold all of my books, my laptop, and other things I carry everyday. It super sturdy and it's waterproof...great during a Texas thunderstorm. I may end up soaked but my $750 worth of school books stay bone dry!!!
