Help - What style of scrub tops do you prefer?

Published

Hello, I'm new to the nursing world - just started school a few weeks ago. I'm trying to figure our what type of scrub tops to buy. We have full freedom in terms of scrubs, just have to look neat and professional.

So....what type of scrub tops do you prefer? Do you like the ones with the pockets at the bottom? Do you prefer to tuck your scrub tops in, or do you leave them hanging out. I'm just trying to get an idea of what others prefer before I place an order. Thanks!

I tried the scrub tops that have the 1 pocket on the side and did not like them. It seemed as if my shirt was always hanging to one side. I bought the tops that have the 2 pockets on the bottom and even the one that have the 2 sets of double pockets. I love those tops. I carry less in my pants pockets because I wear and extra small petite pants and those are still too big so anything in my bottoms makes my pants constantly drag.

I leave my top hang out. As long as it looks neat, my work does not mind.

But everyone has their own preference.

Hanging out with 2 front pockets. Easy access. :) I also prefer ones with a different style neck, square cut or round. The v-necks are quite deep.

I have to have the 2 front pockets. Also prefer the cotton or ones that feel soft to the touch. Too many of them are "starchy" or uncomfortable.

definetly 2 pockets hanging out. I'm over weight and think it helps hide problem areas. Also if you wear white or light color pants and a contrasting top it shows through if you tuck it in and then I think it just looks goofy.

A few people I have seen who do tuck in are constanly rearranging themselves because things become half tucked, wrinkled etc when they are on their hands and knees crawling around on the floor, doing pt care, during a code, etc.

I like them hanging out with two big front pockets. I also like them with the snap front. I have to wear my hair up for work, so with the snap fronts, my hair doesn't get messed up when I get dressed.

I like the two pockets, hanging over the tummy, I don't like the chest pockets reversible personally, by the time a shift is over i am dragging a ton of junk...

I like v-neck with two pockets in the front and with slits on the sides. I wear them untucked for comfort.

Another vote for the two front pockets! They're comfy and they're not supposed to be tucked in.

I prefer snap tops:

1) They fit better, no extra material around the shoulders.

2) the two pockets on the bottom front

3) If anything nasty would ever splash on them, i can slip it off, instead of having to pull it over my head. Yuck.

Two pockets hanging out definitely. You would be suprised how much fits in those two pockets (pens, scissors, penlight, hemostats, etc):)

Why are you buying your own scrubs? Are you washing them yourself at home? Are they fresh and clean every day? Is this a language problem and these are not the tops getting covered in blood, vomit, and any other possibly infectious material? Is this an infection control issue? I certainly wouldn't want to wash my work stuff in with the family's ...
