Hi all! I've been a nurse about 7 years... In the same place. Yesterday I accepted a position within the company but a clinic job, m-f no weekends no holidays etc. the regular schedule was a big draw to me... I was working til midnight or 2 am every shift. Anyway.... I can't get excited bc I'm so sad about leaving my coworkers!!! I am planning to still pick up shifts at my old place but it just won't be the same any help?/advice?

I accepted a Monday through Friday job after years of working nights. In spite of the lack of coworker interaction (I work from home), this was the best decision I could have made career-wise and health-wise.
My health and well-being have improved from being on a more normal, flexible schedule. Good luck to you.
Thank you! Yes, I'm hoping my health and mental health improve!! I am constantly tired and eat so poorly. I guess any major life change is hard...

I actually just accepted another position as well! I'm sad to be leaving my co-workers but I am confident there are other good people out there and excited to make new friends :) it's bittersweet, but I am sure I'll be happier on a normal schedule.
Best of luck to you!

Nights are so hard!! I don't know if I will ever adjust. But I'm not really a half be morning person either, so getting up at 5am kills me as well. My perfect shift would either be 9am-9pm or 11am-11pm!!
I'm giving up my 11-11 shift, it sounds good but to me it was exhausting, you miss your whole day, can't do/see anyone before or after work.

Sad about leaving coworkers?!!?? Ok....never had that problem! I was and am still a team player. But at the end of the day (or night, as was the case), it was my *** that was left on the floor watching them hit the elevator, my eyes propped open with toothpicks while I make that long drive home, and my pockets that had to pay the bills. I get along with everybody because I can't fight and I can't run. But when it's time to move on, it's time to go. Nope, when I left, the deuces were in the air! And I had that George-Jefferson strut (arms swinging behind me and all) as I exited that one last time!
Ok wow haha, I guess I just get a little more attached. These people have helped me through the worst and best times of my life, if it weren't for them I don't know how I would have gotten up and survived after my mother tragically and suddenly died, so maybe my relationship with my coworkers goes deeper.

I get your point. My fantastic coworkers are a pretty big part of the reason I stay where I am. We are all underpaid and overworked and instead of taking it out on each other we have a we are in this together attitude. Sure there is a little complaining about other nurses, but for the most part we are all banding together complaining about management and corporate.
It is scary I am sure to be the new kid on the block and need to forge all new work relationships. Despite what people may say about it being only a job that you leave at the end of your shift it is a simple truth that you spend a huge chunk of your life with the people you work with. Getting along well with those people makes all the difference in the world sometimes when you just otherwise hate your job. Hopefully your new job ends up being a good fit for you.
Absolutely! Couldn't have said it better myself. I will be able to pick up hours and pop into my old area for extra money so I won't be leaving completely
