  1. Absolutely! Couldn't have said it better myself. I will be able to pick up hours and pop into my old area for extra money so I won't be leaving completely
  2. Ok wow haha, I guess I just get a little more attached. These people have helped me through the worst and best times of my life, if it weren't for them I don't know how I would have gotten up and survived after my mother tragically and suddenly died, so maybe my relationship with my coworkers goes deeper.
  3. I'm giving up my 11-11 shift, it sounds good but to me it was exhausting, you miss your whole day, can't do/see anyone before or after work.
  4. No I haven't, that relates to this?
  5. Thank you! Yes, I'm hoping my health and mental health improve!! I am constantly tired and eat so poorly. I guess any major life change is hard...
  6. Hi all! I've been a nurse about 7 years... In the same place. Yesterday I accepted a position within the company but a clinic job, m-f no weekends no holidays etc. the regular schedule was a big draw to me... I was working til midnight or 2 am every shift. Anyway.... I can't get excited bc I'm so sad about leaving my coworkers!!! I am planning to still pick up shifts at my old place but it just won't be the same any help?/advice?
  7. Hi all, I've recently been looking for a new job, nothing has really intrigued me to leave my current job until something this week. I currently have been in the hospital 7 years, I work in a pedi Ed, 3 12 hour shifts, ALL evenings, every 3rd weekend and of course holidays. I always thought working off shift holidays etc comes with the territory of nursing. This week I have an interview an for a clinic job.. Within the same company so it would be a lateral move, 7 miles from my house. No weekends, no holidays, day shift. The hospital is 14 miles from Me. My main thing of course is..money. This position is a 32 hour one- 4 8s, I currently work 36. My insurance would go up but I also wouldn't have to pay for parking at this clinic so that almost evens out. Bc I work all evenings I'm going to miss that Differential I always get, and of course the hours are less. On the other hand I'm really looking for more of a life balance. My mom died unexpectedly last year and since then my whole outlook has changed... I hate missing holidays, I just moved in with my boyfriend and we are planning a life together and not being home for dinner stinks, also I'm much more of a morning person. What does everyone think? What would you do?
  8. Hi all! I've been a nurse (pediatrics) for about 7 years. I currently work the standard 3 12s in a hospital... Long hours, weekends, holidays. I do enjoy it but don't want to be there forever-- the problem is they pay well for me comparably. I am in the process of interviewing for a school nurse position which will pay $32/HR with no pay over the summer. I currently make $40/HR, and obviously work all year. I'm very tempted by the school nurse job I feel as though it's a good fit for me but am extremely worried about the pay cut/ not getting paid over summer. Any advice would be great!!!
