Hello all. I am a 26 year old mother of 2 girls ages 3 and 5. As if that weren't enough I am also a military wife!! Now if what I do is not difficult enough I want to add a little more to my plate. I want to go back to school and get my degree in nursing with a specialty in geriatrics ( I think I spelled that right). Any ways I am planning to work on it while my husband is deployed. So my question to all who could help is where do I begin? Financial aid? Thank you

Welcome to Allnurses!
Best first step will be to contact a school near you and set up an appointment with the admissions person- they will guide you in which classes you need to take for pre-requisites, GPA required and any other requirements.
In addition, I'd set up a day where I could shadow a Nurse in the geriatric setting. (The school might help you to set this up)
If you had time- you could start to volunteer in the LTC setting, or take a class to become a CNA and work in LTC but I imagine with your hubby deployed you are very busy with the kids...
BEST WISHES- please come back often and let us know how you are progressing!
