HCA

For warning....DO NOT accept a contract or employ yourself at an HCA hospital. They honestly abuse their nurses. They claim to be all about patient satisfaction, but really it's all about their profit. They put patient's at risk for falls, do not have enough staff to ensure patients are given the care they desire. Not to mention they do not have enough equipment to assess patient's.

Enter at your own risk. I would DIE before I'd take a family member to one of their hospitals.

Unfortunately this is not the first or second time I have heard this about HCA. It's quite terrible to think they have such a horrible reputation but seem to do nothing to change it.

I work for a Tenet Hospital. Its not bad though. my batchmates who work for HCA get paid lower than me and other batchmates who work at Tenet

wow, that does not seem good.

ON a POSITIVE note, I was a patient at an HCA, tenet facility and I had a very positive experience. The nurses who took care of me were all very nice, except for one that her attitude seemed like a robot and didnt even look at me when she was giving me the instructions.

I should of written a nice letter for them but I always forget to!

I work at UMH and it used to be owned by HCA as cedars. EVERYONE has said it was better under HCA. They are doing the shortstaffing even worse now under UM. My floor is tuff. We have 1 CNA for an entire hall (16 pts) half might be total care. We get 6 or 7 patients and a typical day could be 2 discharges and 2 admissions. Acuity is very high as we get ICU transfers and surgical post ops and all kinds of banged up pts. So Im kinda thinking HCA would be better!

Who "they?" Are your referring to any particular hospital?

This newstory is about an HCA hospital; scary. The hospital outsourced dialysis resulting in the death of a patient.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/health/medicine/delayed-dialysis-has-doctor-seeking-change-from-outsourcing/1009641

I just took a job with HCA and am hoping for the best. I've heard many opinions from opposing sides in regards to HCA. As far as them outsourcing dialysis, it is just a fact that not every acute care facility has the resources for inpatient dialysis and it has to be contracted through an outside facility. The agency in question should know that 4 hrs on a stat order can mean life and death for some pts. It's all about common sense and compassion. I don't agree that the MD should be writing formal complaints in a pt chart. It does not belong there. It has just a paved way for another lawsuit for millions of dollars. In turn, that hurts the health care workers in that they have to make up for that somewhere, spikes in our insurance, lower wages, "temporary" freezes on our annual raise, less nurses being hired = increased pt workload.... and on down the line. It gaws me how ppl read a story like this and just run with it. While yes it is tragic that this man died, saying that HCA is responsible b/c they do not offer dialysis in house is absurd. Like I said, I just took the job with them, haven't even started yet but I am hoping for the best.

My wife works at an HCA and absolutley loves it. She has 4-6 PTs with a tech, BIG DEAL. Her hospital was just awarded one of the top 5% of hospitals in the nation when it comes to deaths ect.

Just because you have a bad experience at one HCA hospital does not mean they are all bad.

Don't let the HCA "Patient Care" fool you. Its a horrible company and they will brain wash you into thinking they care about the patient and the employees. They don't! Its all about the bottom line! MONEY! The great nurses and other staff make the patient experience great! Not the company! They are getting ready to be a public company now....Beware

I would take a job from the HCA hospitals like now! I am desperate.

I agree! any job is better than no jobs!

**Sighs** When am I going to have a job Lord? It is very hard on me financially...I CANNOT TAKE IT!!!!!:crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2::crying2:
