Has anyone been sucessful testing without the optional EC practice exams?

I just registered and paid $250 for my Chronicity exam. It has been 18 months since my last exam, and I swear it was closer to $180 or $200 for that exam (but who knows, was awhile ago!) I did the required reading, although some of it was over a year ago. I purchased a few study guides which were somewhat helpful. Now I am going through the content guide, word for word and re-reading all sections in Mosby's nursing diagnosis books to all that apply. I did do the practice exams for Health Saftey and they were extremely helpful and I did very well (A). Does anyone NOT do the practice exams and still score well? I am paying for one son in college and a daughter in sports, and would really like to save where I can, but I have not read a single post on EC EPN or here about not doing practice exams. The practice exams from Studyguide101 seem quite detailed.

I have taken all the nursing exams minus lifespan 3 and have not used the optional practice exams. I have passed all of them but lifespan 2 thus far. I think for lifespan 2 and 3 I might get them since I hear they are the hardest of the nursing exams. I have just used SG101 notes and the college network modules. Good luck to you. It can be done without spending the extra money on the practice exams. Good luck on your studies!

They didn't even have them when I started EC. So in my case the answer is yes. I passed ALL exams without the practice exams. :)

I was just talking about it with hubby this morning, and I will purchase the practice exam for Chronicity because so much of my material I read through over a year ago. I will see if I can do without them for Repo and Transitions, and use them for the Lifespans. Thanks so much for the replies :)

EC was a two time, over many years, experience for me. I remember when the tests were about $65 and there was no such thing as a practice exam.

Unbelievable at how the price can jump. I know the annual tuition when up for me this year as well, which only adds to my frustation that I have gone so slowly with this! I will admit, having found this site has been a huge motivator! I wish I would have found it back in 2009 when I first started.

I completed all the CLEP's in September of this year and did not use any of the practice exams.
