We have themes every day this week. I don't know what our 'gift' is yet but they try to make it fun

We get sandwiches. Oh and they put up a giant expensive looking sign in the department that says "HAPPY ER NURSES WEEK" I wish they'd just pay us a critical care differential instead. That would be nice. Really feel like I earned it today. But I'm not bitter. NOPE!!!! Ilovemyjobilovemyjobilovemyjob....

Food everyday! Night shift still gets the short end of the stick though...day shift gets all of these fabulous meals and we're stuck with fruit and veggie trays. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful but I want some real food, too! We also got cake, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and coffee mugs.

My ER managers were kind enough to show us nurses their appreciation by buying us.. I can't make this up.. A marker. And as they were handing us our sharpie pens, we were told it was so we "could keep our boards updated." That was pretty much it- way to make us feel valued. Thankfully our ED docs and PAs were kind enough to buy us ER sweatshirts- very thoughtful. Maybe next year our nursing managers will get a clue.
We got hosp shirts and new trauma's. plus all the food n little contests.
There's no 'happy med surge' week or anything right? I think it's pretty neat.
