August2008Support Group!!!

I received my eligibility letter from CA board of nursing 4 days ago, haven't registered yet in personvue. Anyway, I plan to take it (NCLEX-RN) on August!! And I'm so excited!! To all August NCLEX takers, let's share our thoughts, feelings, and knowledge, as well as review strategies towards passing nclex! I believe having that kind of relationship with others will help us pass the exam!!

GOD BLESS TO ALL OF US!! ^_^

I took my NCLEX-RN on Wednesday, 8/6 and it shut off at 75. I think I had somewhere between 8-10 SATAs and one "reorder all this junk" question. No hotspot questions, though. A couple of dosage/drip calculation questions. But even though it shut off at 75, I still felt like I failed! Well, not exactly ... I just wasn't so sure I passed. Yes, I know it's statistically improbable at 75, but I think it's normal to feel unsure! There is a lot riding on it. I found out this morning that I passed! I am just over the moon today. :D Best of luck to my fellow August NCLEX-ers!!!

Congrats to you Lunah and all August takers who passed(so far)!!:yeah:

Hey guys I'm set up for the 14 of Aug. I am currently doing 300 Q a day(from Kaplan q bank, saunders, and nclex 3500) and I go over my notes that I took and started the book (delegation, prioritization, and assisgnment by linda lacharity--since it is a hot topic.

make sure to study infection control also

wish you all the best and pray for me too

Omg goodluck! 13 SATA's wow! alot! I dont do well on those.. and meds ugh! no no no! anyhow.. mines on the 29th.. Back to stuyidng!!

Lots of luck on your test Melinurse

Hi Melinurse, the dosage calc qone seems to be getting, includ me ( i've heard from approx 8 classmates, as well from others on this site who walked before us) is the mcg/kg/min and they want the ans in ml/hr. Example: Order: Dopamine 800mg in D5W 250ml at 3mcg/kg/min. Pt weighs 85kg. How many ml/hr would you set the IV pump.

3mcg x 85kg x 60min x 250ml x 1 mg

kgxmin x 1 x 1hr x 800mg x 1000mcg

ans= 5ml/hr.

Good luck on your exam, i'll be praying for you.

Meow,

I completed 95% of the qbank overall is 60. Kaplan's pretest scored 61....readiness 62. I refused to believe any readiness tests that are going to tell me I'm going to fail. I must say, even if I only did 25 qbank questions at a time, I would always look up and understand why I got the answer wrong. I made a list of things that I was rusty on. I actually enjoyed learning this way. I did not study any meds. I knew the endings lol, pril, ose etc. On the test, you can easily figure out what the med answer is by knowing what the med is. Passing this test requires a desire to go over the material (I only used Kaplan) and answering what they ask. Here are my scores. 1) 65 2) 56 3) 59 4)51 5)55 6) 61 7) 60

When I was taking the test, I was actually glad to get SATA's because I could feel the level of questions going up (a good sign I guess) started getting them on the 3rd question. Hope this helps, let me know if I can assist you with any else (no, I won't take the test for ya!) I've had all the stress I can handle for this month.

Can I join in here? I just scheduled my test, August 24 at 8AM is my spot. Now that I have an official date, I am more nervous than I have been.

I just went through a Kaplan class at work and am working the plan. Already done with Saunders, I think I will be ready, but I know from taking them for my LPN that I will be nervous.

Keep the faith everyone...we will get through!

LunahRN,

I took mine the same time as you too 8/06/08 in CA..I still have not see my name on the website yet as of today 8/09/08

I am getting really nervous..

Hang in there ... the waiting is terrible, I know! :(

I've been doing practice tests/questions today with NCLEX 3500 and got 78% first test ( the only questions I got wrong were SATA & the ones with a picture ) the second I scored a 74%, again the SATA got me. Now I am worried, what are the chances I won't get any " alternate format " questions? I am NOT feeling so confident anymore.

So, Lunah RN, what color Danskos did you get? Is your new nurse picture here a possible template for a tatoo? Real cute.:p
