Hi, just curious. Is your agency the one requiring you to do this additional trainings or volunteer work?

Good to hear from you again.

hi lawrence! nope. i just want to have an experience in a good hospital...;)

it's nice to be back. my pc isn't working properly whew!

For hospital employment, these hospitals are hiring:

Philippine Heart Center, Philippine General Hospital, Manila Doctor's, Las Pinas Doctor's..

For training:

Philippine General Hospital (8k for 6months training)..will start Feb 2007

Philippine Kidney Dialysis Foundation (8k for 5weeks)...will start nov13.

I hope this info help you...

I just want to share my friend's exp. to everyone. He went through that training in the Phil. dialysis center last year because he wanted to have exp. for dialysis.

To cut the long story short, he went to the US last year to take the NCLEX there and went through AOS and wanted to apply for a dialysis center but the cert. he got wasn't credited and they said to him that he must do the training w/ their center instead and that it is free anyway and they will hire him w/ or w/o that training from the Phil. and will still have to do trainings w/ their dialysis center.

thanx for sharing this info, lawrence!...you helped us save our money for this training...so it is the same as GAMI which conducts BCLS, ACLS and claims to be accredited by AHA...have you seen their advertisement in Manila Bulletin?

if you have hospital training from the phil, that is good.but if i were you, i won't even bother doing bls or acls in the philippines because if you want to work in the u.s., i beleive they won't honor that, and they will make you do it again before you start working here. they will look for you bls card via the american red cross or the american heart assiociation. the facility will actually pay for you attend the acls class, but you have to pay for the book.

TRAINING in in the Philippines is not credited, you are right, but if you think it will give you confidence, then take it.. like for example IV training... it is one of the functions of a generalist nurse here.. so i wouldnt mind getting IV therapy training there if i am still there.... that is basically one of my problems now.... the nurse who are educated here are confident of doing IV insertion...

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION

It's still good to have some work experience though... just to familiarize yourself with the hospital setting, dealing with patients. I heard some employers will ask what you are doing while waiting to be petitioned to work in the US and the answer they want to hear is that you're practicing being a nurse.

only in the philippines where you get training only ifyou will pay... i am being trained here and they are paying me. from the start of the orientation, the nurse is already paied here.. even when you train for your acls and pals, they will pay your time.... this is what i call "giving what is due"
