Gift idea needed for preceptor

Hi all!

I have just finished my "new grad" orientation @ my hospital and I am wanting to get a gift for my 2 amazing preceptors.

Any ideas??

A gift certificate for a popular store. lotions, bath items, or just a simple thank you card.

Hey there! What do you know about them? Color schemes? Hobbies? Gift cards are good... I got my day preceptor chocolates and a small carved acorn candle, because she had mentioned the mantle in her living room had acorns carved into the wood. The night preceptor hasnt given me any good ideas, so I chose a scented oil warmer that uses tea lights from bath and body works. Its neutral enough and can be used with lots of different oils. I included a note of my neverending thanks too. I think something like that beats anything I could buy.

Hows about gift certificates for food, or a uniform store? Good Luck!

Cheers, Ivanna ;)

I got my preceptor a box of fancy chocolates! She loved them!

How 'bout a gift certificate for a pedicure at a nice salon/spa? They are so wonderful for tired, neglected feet and not very expensive. Hmmm....I could use one myself! :lol2:

take them to lunch, or have them over.... believe me you will have many opportunity to repay with genuine kindness other than gifts, etc. remeber one hand washes the other (no pun).

I think gift certificate for a uniform store and a thank you card will be perfect.

In my ER, I have been paired with many nursing students by their clinical instructor, also my co-worker. One of her classes wrote me a group thank you card, that I still have today. I TREASURE it. Anything, with a bit of personalization, is always a big hit with me. The card was all there was, but was by far one of the most touching thank you's I have ever recieved...

1. You could make a snack basket for them to have stuff like trail mix and healthy type things for their breaks.

2. You could also get them a massage gift certificate. Nothing like a muscle rub down when you are sore.

I agree (not that you need one, but the idea lol). We spend so much time taking care of others it's nice to be able to pamper ourselves. I'd be leery of food gifts; you never know about likes/dislikes, allergies, diets, etc.

I also suggest you write a letter to the NM, HR, and administration praising these nurses. Too often, we only hear of the negative.

Emmanuel,

HEY!...I didn't know you could see my feet thru this thang!!!:lol2:

hand lotion is always appreciated by nurses, male and female.

How about a nice minimalist "Thank You Card". Why do you feel the need to give someone a gift for doing their job?
