Getting Married?

Published

Im actually a month pregnant now, and my bf is hesitant of getting married. He recently passed the Nclex exam and he is just waiting for the retro to lift so he could proceed to his applications abroad. He felt that the idea of marrying soon will delay his plans on going abroad. Is it possible that we can marry as soon a possible and have me included on his application? Will this affect or will it delay his application? What will be the best move or decision should we take? Is it good that marriage will just come later after he pursued his dreams abroad? He promised to marry me soon after but the idea of not getting married while having a baby is somewhat unacceptable especially to my family.

it will not affect or delay his application if you get married, but if he wants you to move to the US with him then you need to be married before DS230 is submitted. If you get married after he moves to the US then it will take you a few years before you can join him there.

Thanks for the reply, it does help a lot! I hope this would'nt be a problem for my bf's application abroad, I dont want him to be stuck in this country knowing nurses are not well compensated here. I will be soon taking the local board and another problem that bugs me now is, will it be ok to take the NLE even if im pregnant? Well im really confused now a days, there are so many things that makes me anxious. Your messages will surely be a relief....

you are taking the NLE? you dont need to take that if you want to go the the US. but if you really want to, just remember you have to sit it the whole exam with only the lunch break. if you dont have bladder problems then you might be able to finish it with little discomfort.

are you sure that the only reason he doesnt want to get married is bec of he thinks it will interfere with his petition? i would ask you to take caution in "asking" for marriage when he seems hesitant. even if your family would prefer you to be married, if youre not 100% sure than you shouldnt.

good luck to your new endeavor..i know you will have a good future in the end...thats life we have to accept for whatever actions we did ....

what if my bf and I will do secret marriage a month(for example) before he went to US, will this affect his petition to US? knowing that he put SINGLE as his status. thanks

If you get married before he moves to the US it will not affect his application unless you are planning on joining him. For you to go with him he needs to add you as DS230 and a month before is too late which means for you to join him will take years unless you get a GC on your own terms

my dear, there's no such thing as a "secret" marriage :nono: . maybe it's a civil marriage you're referring.

as mentioned by silverdragon102: "it will not affect or delay his application if you get married, but if he wants you to move to the us with him then you need to be married before ds230 is submitted".

To make it easier for you to understand:

If you are not on the DS-230 that is filed, you will be waiting minimum of two years to get to the US, if not even longer. So getting married just before he leaves for the US will not get you a visa for the US at that same time.

thanks silverdragon102, blabber and suzanne4.. you guys help me and my bf a lot..
