So, i'm addicted to Germ-X. I have a bottle in my backpack, lab coat, truck, bedroom, bathroom, every where!!! Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

I have Germ-X here at home because I have a one year old and it isn't easy to wash my hands after poopy diapers with him following me everywhere; I tried to wash my hands the other day after an enormous poopy and turned around and he had gotten the toilet lid up and was playing in the toilet water...so I use Germ-X after most of his diaper changes.

As for work, I always carry a bottle of Bath n Body Works hand sanitizer. They have much better scents other than just the alcohol-y scent. I usually leave it at the nurses' station so others can use it too. The "cotton blossom" smells wonderful but I couldn't find it last time I went there.

Well,to clarify there's addiction number one which is because you love it's handy, portable and convenient way of killing most germs and there's number two addiction where people actually glug the stuff down because it contains alcohol and they will consume it in any form including hand cleaner.

I'm hoping and presuming you are talking about reason number one?

Anyway a lot of people,I noticed

Germ-X is my favorite too. In Wal-Mart in the personal care section (bins with the small samples) they have great fun scents like orange and apple and the best is blueberry. Have you tried those they are awesome. my patients love the blueberry smell. I do not like Purell,it leaves a film I do not like.

Michelle,

I can understand wanting to smell wonderful, but when I was recently hospitalized, the nurses who wore/used scented products made my nausea so much worse that I hated it when they came in my room. :sniff:

Also at our hospital we are only allowed to use products that are provided for us (including lotions) because of the bacteriostatic properties they contain.

GermX or the good smelling products are wonderful to use outside the hospital.

The regular Germ-X does not have a scent. I keep a HUGE bottle in my car and use it often.

I love Bath & Body for my off time. I does have a strong odor; I agree, it is too strong for work. I worked at a 'scent-free' facility and it was a no-no!

I love and have a gazillion bottles of Avon's Naturals hand sanitizer. Oh and I have some germ x too.

Germ-X is what we use in our ER....love it too!

Love the stuff- I drive my kids crazy with it too :chuckle "Did you squirt your hands?!" :)

I only use the scented ones at my home care job.

I used to use the Bath & Body Works sanitizer on a consistent basis. They have some really great scents. I began to use it less frequently after we tested how well it worked a couple of years back in my Micro class. Whem compared to others, the Bath & Body sanitizer killed a very small amount of germs... We were very suprised at what was left on our hands after use. I think it is OK to use at times, but wouldn't consider using it to clean my hands when working with patients or to replace handwashing after doing something "dirty".
