First day: MONDAY!!

Published

What do I wear?! We can wear anything, and I'm in FL... I'm thinking a modest dress and a sweater?

Also I'm already having those dreams... Late to class, forgot to study for a test, etc. Last night, it was the teacher asking who read the first chapter before classes started and I was the only one to raise my hand... He proceeded to say "10 points from Gryffindor for being smart to me!" Ughhhhh I just want school to start!!!

Okay I feel better getting the out lol!

I dressed conservatively but not dressy. In my program people wore anywhere from pajamas to business casual. I tended to go toward the end of business casual but certainly was casual too. Just dress comfortably and in a way that shows you're serious and ready to get down to business. :-) Good luck!

My shool suggests we wear conservative casual. I'm taking that to mean jeans and a blouse or nice T shirt, not my usual ripped jeans and band t shirt! (And I'm almost fifty.....go figure.... a child of the 70s.... it sticks with ya.) Anyway, just wanted to say.... I'm so jeeeelllllyyyyy....... I wanna start school already!!!!

I think as long as you look nice you'll be fine. I wouldn't want to stand out like a sore thumb, but you've got to maintain your individuality, right? haha

Good Luck!!!

I woke up this morning CONVINCED I had missed clinicals. I checked 3 calendars:)

Trust me, wear something comfy but keep in mind the other students (not the teachers!!) will be sizing you up.

In the beginning of the nursing program, most of us dressed nice and did our hair/makeup. By the end of the program, we all wore jeans/t-shirts except on lab days when scrubs were required. You might be like we were by the end - too exhausted from work and long clinical hours to care much about appearance (hygiene matters however...always!!) Good luck! =)

We were required to wear scrubs at all times on campus, but recently admin allowed us to go casual when we are not in lab. Many people have taken too much liberty with it. Way too short shorts, tube tops, ripped jeans etc. The Dean is pretty unhappy, and may make us go back to scrubs. So my advice is to keep it more on the conservative side, yet comfy. You want to maintain a profesional appearance, your instructors and classmates will take you more seriously. Don't need to get super fancy, but don't go looking like you just rolled out of bed.

Always read ahead when you can (but not too far). Good luck!

Since I was going to be sitting in a lecture hall for 4-5 hours and/or a lab I wore comfy clothes with close toed shoes.

Hey guys!! Wow I'm done with my first day!!!

I ended up settling on a pair or longer linen shorts, a comfy, nonclingy tshirt, an oversized sweater, and some sandals (not of the flip flop variety).

I was so nervous about making a good impression while following the dress code, but there were girls there with tube and tank tops, leggings, ripped jeans, and flip flops. I felt a little over dressed, but over all I was super comfy... I wasn't freezing like some of the other girls or constantly adjusting the girls or just plain uncomfortable.

Thanks for all the tips and tricks!!! You guys are great :)

always better to be overdressed! What classes are you taking? Are you in a regular semester or a quarterly program? How'd you like your first day at school??

I'm taking A&P and lab, and nursing informatics (computer course). I loved it!!! I met a girl during our campus tour and we hit it off, so we're car pool buddies!! It's a quarterly program, 8 in all. I'm class of 2015!
