First classes with Excelsior

I did the ASN program and just completed their BSN. If you're self-motivated and determined to become an RN, you will do fine with EC's program. I did the exam version of the ASN and did extremely well after having been out of school for more than 20 years. If you want to do this program, ignore the negative comments. This program will be what you make it. Good luck!

I'm not finished yet and I guess you could say I'm at the halfway point as I'm doing the FCCA.

From where I'm sitting, that statement is 100% correct.

me - 15 credits left with EC, it is doable, looking forward to graduation. right, ignore the negatives. use their study guides. you will do fine. take the practice exams, they are worth the $$ :)

I am finishing my masters there. I loved the program! You need to be self motivated though as it is mostly an online school.

In my opinion, no school can teach you how to be a nurse in any particular area. You learn the theory that you need by sitting in a classroom. Your physical skills will be determined by the areas in which you choose to practice after you are licensed or have the degree conferred. You can always apply for a job at the bedside or classroom to gain those types of skills. Otherwise, you would need to shadow and/or be precepted in your chosen area until you feel confident that you have the skills in which you seek.

I agree that it will be difficult for one to get a position in areas other than those in which s/he is experienced, no matter what degree is held unless that person has contacts higher up, a bang-up resume, or the gift of gab.

@ maddyfan4, I wish we could trade places. I've been searching high and low for the opportunity to get out of the hospital setting. I've done Homecare before, but it was during my LPN days back in the 90s. Hopefully, this BSN degree is my ticket out of acute care.
