Fired!

So I started on a L&D unit a few months ago. My dream job. I was never given a fair chance because all the nurses hated me. Instead of telling me things and teaching me things while on orientation, they would go to management anytime I did anything wrong. I wasnt given a preceptor who was trained. I was with a different person everytime. It was ridiculous. The union said if i really wanted to i could get my job back because they did so many things wrong, but i dont want it. I was miserable. It was so bad that even patients complained to management that the nurses were so mean to me. The educator of the unit disciplined me. They admitted the unit was toxic and not conducive to learning right in front of the vp of the union. I can't do anything about it because they prevented me from being in the union by extending my probation period. And the list goes on...Anyway I was let go. On ridiculous grounds. Things that weren't even true were put in my discipline paper that I refused to sign. They did so many things wrong. Anyway my question is should I use this job on my résumé. I really want to work in L&D or something around that field and this is my only experience in that specialty. How do I explain what happened? I have 2 years experience in another specialty and kept my job at the hospital per diem just in case and was able to pick up hours for now. But I have an interview coming up where I listed this job. I really want this job. I feel Im meant to be in this field. It truly is where my heart is in nursing, but the question is How do I explain it?

I'm not saying she's not being bullied. It's quite possible that she is in the rare circumstance where it IS 100% one-sided. And if she truly feels that it's completely a bullying situation and no self-reflection is necessary, then she is free to disregard my post.

Thank you but the state I am in is not on this list.

Even though your state may not be on the list, the nursing community is very small; people will talk and you could really be in for a bad time if your interviewer happens to know the previous employer.

does not answer your question (think it has been addressed adequately) but heres hoping you find a place where you can bloom and grow!

I was informed today I am able to resign instead of being Fired. They know they did me wrong. No self reflection necessary. The nurses I worked with were bullying me 100%. They wanted me gone. They won. I lost, but it is what it is. I never had this problem in 15 years of working. It wasn't me. It was them. I am going to list the job and use the PP's explanations. Thanks everyone.

Thank you :) I'm back to my old job for right now who would welcome me back with open arms which goes to show you it's not me. Lol I hope I get the job I am going to interview for.

LandD,

I have a job on my résumé that I walked out of with no notice. The ICU was so dangerous in this hospital that I was afraid for my license. When my prospective employers call there, they say I am ineligible for rehire. (This looks like I got fired) I have NEVER had an issue getting a job. Likely, if the place you worked is that toxic, hiring managers all over your city know it. In my case they were all aware how bad it was.

Good luck!

Thank you for the information. I will most definitely let everyone know what happens. Prayers are accepted that I get the position I am interviewing for. :)

What country are you from?

US.. Michigan.

Good for you. Stay with them long enough to get your employment record back up and maybe in a few months try applying for another L & D job. Best wishes.

I walked out without notice on a job also and same thing, when they call for a reference they say I am not eligable for rehire. No issues here getting a job though. I only had that job for 3 weeks.

Thanks ladies. I'm still searching and still working per diem at my old place. Have my feelers out and hoping something works out. Waiting on a few interviews to be set up. *fingers crossed* *prayers being said* I need insurance for myself and my children in a bad way!
