Finally had ENOUGH!

I started a thread not long ago wondering if I was burnt out or fed up. Well, I realized yesterday...I'm fed up!! Fed up with people who come to work to socialize, management with no backbone, and fed up with working my a** off doing my work and whatever the day shift nurse doesn't do!!!

I am going to start looking into going back to hospital nursing. I am a bit worried that I have forgotten so much that I won't be able to provide my pts with the care that they deserve. I've worked in LTC for the last 4 yrs. Have any of you gone to work in a hospital after LTC? Did you take a refresher course or just jump into it?

I am excited and yet scared to leave the "security" of my present job, but for my own sanity, I have to get out of there!

Good luck on your interview and it does take guts to just quit and leave your comfort level. I have to admire that.

Belinda, I worked long-term and skilled care for years and the got into agency work on the side. One of the first places I was sent was a nephrology floor at a hospital. You take it slow and ask questions when you need to. You will be fine and it will come back to you. Good luck and fear nothing!!!! JulieBean

:balloons: Good luck, Belinda! I just returned to nursing after being out almost six years myself. I went through a refresher course, and it was very helpful. I'm finding that each day more and more things are coming back to me as if I never left nursing in the first place. You'll be fine. Chin up! Let us know how your interview goes. :kiss

You wont' see much relief in hospital nursing, i fear. It's all over. Lousy mgt, lazy coworkers and bottom feeders abound. I wish you luck in finding your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

I hope the interview goes well for you. With luck, you'll get a floor where everyone pulls together. Good luck and take care.:D

I had my interview yesterday. I think it went well. They are supposed to let me know by the end of the week.

Chin up, Belinda ! Who knows... you just MIGHT get lucky and find a good bunch who work together and support each other. Rare, I know... but if you don't get out there and look for it, you'll SURELY never find it ! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain IF you picked the "lucky number"! ;)

Wish you the best. If you're miserable where you're at, ANY change can be a breath of fresh air.
