FCCA Information

Published

Hi,

I am waiting for my FCCA packet to come in the mail and am very worried. I have no idea what to expect. For those of you that have taken it, does it give you examples of how they want the information. Please help.. it should be here in a couple of days and I am a wreck.

Thank you.

It is actually nothing to be a wreck about. It's basically simple, when i needed clarification I called Excelsior, and they were really helpful. Excelsior rules state that you cannot give out info on the FCCA, so you will only get info from the school. As I say it again it is nothing to stress over.

Hello

I passed my last nursing exam yesterday and know I am fcca eligible. Do I need to register to take this and they send it thru the mail or do I need to do something different?

Thanks:):)

RNWannabe12: Erikadawn is right! My one big suggestion to you would be to call EC if anything on the test isn't clear. I found one area that I was not sure about, and when I called the EC she clarified. I am not sure if I would have been successful had I not called...

Crazywoman: I would register for both teh CPNE and the FCCA ASAP. You do not have to have the FCCA done to register for the CPNE (although you may have needed to complete the FCCA before going to the CPNE, not sure...) The FCCA registration is super-easy. Just call EC and let them know what dates you will take it. Pick a week when there is not much going on. They will mail you the packet with the exam and a paid FedEx envolope, you have 10 days to do the exam, and then mail it back. Viola! Easy!

My total time on the FCCA was probably about four hours, but a lot of that was reading and thinking.

See, four hours of reading and thinking shouldn't be so bad!

Does Excelsior have much info on there website about the fcca because I could not find it.

Thanks

I don't think that they do have any information on the website. It isn't really something that you need to study for.

We can't give details on the test, but I will echo the others and say the FCCA isn't that much to worry about. I personally think that I over-analyzed everything and went into waaay too much detail, and it took me about 4-5 hours to knock out. I wrote down rationales for all of my answers (because there are a couple of ambiguous things on the exam) and probably provided way more information than they wanted.

When you get it, there will be the number & extension to call if you have questions. I called, they were really nice...I had several questions, so dont be afraid to ask about anything you dont understand, and call back if you need too. Dont sweat it though!! It really wasnt bad at all. I did it in one day, although I did read over it the next day, because I was having to take Benadryl for wasp sting the day I did it, and those things mess me up! So I wanted to make sure I didn't write something off the wall. :-) I must not have, I seen today I passed it. LOL

Good Luck!!

Congrats on passing. I actually have it now, but am terrified of making a mistake on it. I think I am putting too much thougth into it.

definitely don't over think it. just remember that there is more than one correct answer, you just need to keep it simple. if you've gotten this far in your studies, you know this stuff, now just apply it--easy for me to say! i wrote mine out a hundred times before i committed to writing it on my exam paper, then i didn't seal the envelope for 2 days! i kept going back and thinking about changing answers, but remember, your first answer is usually correct! you can do this!

Thank you for the support.. I need it. I do this all the time. I have rewritten this over and over again. I just have to commit to it. I'll let you know how I make out. I want to mail it out tomorrow.
