Fall 2014 Ivy Tech Nursing

Congratulations everyone! We have worked so hard and now we are waiting for the answer to our dreams. I thought I would start this thread and encourage others to participate in order to inform each other as well as future students about TEAS V scores and total overall scores. There isn't a lot of support within Ivy Tech and I want to encourage those who really strive to be a nurse to continue on your way no matter the obstacles or discouragements you may face.

I recently finished all pre-reqs with A's and my last attempt at the TEAS V was an 87.4. This gives me a total rating of 177.4/190. My first attempt at the TEAS V exam, I scored a 76.2; it was recommended that I retake it to try to achieve at least an 85 or higher. I am trying to get into the Lafayette and Lawrence ASN programs, where there are more students who apply every year. Don't let these scores scare you, i've done a lot of research and have found that TEAS V scores of 76 and higher with some straight A's and others with a B or two have been accepted into the ASN program around Indiana. However, if you can take a second attempt to get a better score, I recommend it. The ATI book was a great resource for me. Amazon sells it for fairly cheap.

    I graduated from Ivy Tech in 2011, and these threads still make me so happy :) They were what kept me sane while waiting to find out if I had been accepted or not. Best of luck to everyone! :)

    Thanks rnjacqui :) I spent my first year as a nurse working Med/Surg and then just after the 1 year mark I switched hospitals and switched jobs and got my dream job in an ICU! At the same time I also started IU's online RN to BSN program which I graduated from in December 2013! I'm planning on grad school in a few years, gotta save up some money!

    Congratulations!!! I want to do the asn to bsn as well once I graduate from ivy tech. It looks like i will try to do the U of Indy program. I am so excited about everything! Don't wait too long! I'm sure you will do great!

    I love these Ivy Tech threads as well. I graduated with my ASN in May 2013 and am currently working on starting the RN to BSN bridge through IU. Good luck!

    Congratulations on working your bottom off, for a successful outcome!!! If accepted this fall, I too plan on continuing to receive my BSN and hopefully MSN through U of Indy after graduation. Good luck to you and keep having faith. You will be finished before you know it!

    It's been a while since I've seen a new IVT thread! I put my application in and I'm impatiently awaiting the long 7 weeks to get my letter. :) I plan to get my ASN her and BSN program. But I need to get accepted first. I have all A's in my pre-reqs but only a 78 on my TEAS V. Fingers crossed that it's enough!

    The thing i love about ivy tech is that they offer an excellent education for the price you pay - local hospitals enjoy having ivy tech students! Im also waiting the long wait. Good luck to everyone!

I think the education we got was much better than even the local 4 year colleges...it seems we had more clinical time which really made a difference. Also it seemed that Ivy Tech students were willing to "get their hands dirty" more and worked harder. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

    Thank you for your encouraging words! I have definitely met a lot of people who are willing to do what it takes to be the best nurse possible through Ivy Tech. For most of us, this is our second chance. We have learned from our mistakes and know how much becoming a nurse means to us. I can't wait to get my own hands dirty!!!

    I hope everyone is excited! Letters are going to be sent out in 2 days. I had 3 A's and 1 B in my core classes and then I got an 81% on my TEAS. I applied to a whole bunch a campuses. The best of luck to all of you.
