For anyone that did not pass exit hesi on their first try and needed to retake it, are the questions the same the second time around? Are they on the same topics?

Oh, they are different. Very different. I just took it again yesterday. It seemed much harder to me. :angryfire
Good luck to you!

They follow the same format each time but the questions are different. I have taken it twice and failed both times along with about 1/3 of my class. My first score was a 719 and 2nd was a 847 and I need a 875. I take it again at the end of May. Good luck on your test.

Hi,
My class just took the exit exam for the first time and we were giving retest version 4 of the hesi exit exam because there were two people in our class from last year that were taking them over. We only had five people pass. The rest of us scored in the high sevens or in the 800's we needed 870. I just want to confirm with anyone out there who has taking the hesi exit exams that the level of difficulty increases with each version. It seem to me that we should have been giving version one? I appreciate any feedback.

I just took the exam on Monday and our class was given the fourth version instead of the first. The other schools who were taking it with us had the first version. I think a large percentage of them passed. The first version is designed for first time takers and the other versions are for people who have failed previously. They get harder because they are assuming that the student has done remediation.

i had to retake it a second time when i was in undergrad!!! the first one was given our last quarter before grad. and the second one was after graduation..which sucks..i believe that the second one was much easier b/c i did alot of saunders cd and the book helped as far as content as well..
Thanks for the insight on the Hessi exit exam. I am glad to report I took it again and passed! I am working on taking the NCLEX the beginning of November!!! Thank you.....

I took Exit HESI yesterday and one of the questions did not have all the info to answer the question. Today the school has to contact HESI to find out how to adjust the scores. Has anyone ever had experience with this? How many points may be added to our current scores? We have to have 900 to pass!

A friend of mine failed twice and passed on the third try. Here's what she said:
1st test: hard
2nd test: much harder
3rd test: much easier than 2nd test
Now granted, that was just her perception and by the time she took it the third time, she had studied her butt off repeatedly. So she probably was much better prepared by the third time. But she did say her classmates felt the same way, almost as if the 2nd test was designed to discourage people, but if you stuck it out, the 3rd test was almost your "reward."
Good luck to everyone!

Is the exit HESI the exam that basically determines if you graduate and can go on to sit for NCLEX?

I think most schools require it now, yes.
